Cedar Valley Christian - Volleyball

Huskies win a set but lose 5 matches

CLINTON - Cedar Valley Christian won a set but lost all five of its matches Saturday at the Prince of Peace Invitational volleyball tournament.

Cedar Valley finished 0-5. The Huskies were beaten by Morningstar Academy, 21-5, 14-21, 6-15. They lost in straight sets to Anamosa (12-21, 18-21), Unity Christian, Ill., (18-21, 14-21), Preston (14-21, 13-21) and Prince of Pace (11-21, 18-21).

Cedar Valley Christian's Jessie Walsh was named to the all-tournament team. She had seven aces overall and eight digs against Prince of Peace.

The Huskies' Lindsey Cach had 13 kills overall. Taylor Fields had seven digs against Anamosa and five against Prince of Peace.

 

Cedar Valley Christian - Volleyball

Montezuma blanks CVC spikers

Montezuma won three straight games and beat Cedar Valley Christian 3-0 in a volleyball match at the Huskies' gymnasium.

Montezuma won by scores of 25-10, 25-14 and 25-9.

CVC's Lindsey Cach had four kills, Izzy Hoffman three kills, Jessie Walsh four digs and two aces, Carly Silver three aces, and Maria Sequeira six assists.

Montezuma also won the JV match, 2-0. The scores were 25-23 and 25-11.

Walsh leads CVC at Meskwaki volleyball tourney

TAMA - Jessie Walsh collected 10 kills, eight digs and two aces for Cedar Valley Christian at the Meskawki volleyball tournament Saturday.

The Huskies lost all five of their matches by 2-0 scores to Meskwaki, Vinton-Shellsburg, North Tama, Roland-Story and Belle Plaine.

Izzy Hoffman had eight kills in the tournament for Cedar Valley. Carly Silver and Maria Sequeira had two aces.

Cedar Valley Christian spikers debut in IGHSAU

Cedar Valley Christian made school history Thursday night by playing its first volleyball matches as members of the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union.

The Huskies got blanked in their first match against BGM, 25-16, 25-20, 25-19, then gave Waterloo Christian a spirited battle before falling 25-17, 15-25, 23-25, 25-19, 15-11.

Jessie Walsh had two kills, four digs and four aces for CVC against BGM. She had three more kills, three digs and 10 aces against Waterloo Christian.

Lindsey Cach had nine kills and an ace against Waterloo, Maria Sequeira had seven assists and four aces, and Izzy Hoffman collected four kills and two aces.

The games were played at Cedar Valley Christian.
