KCC volleyball finishes 1-3 at DMACC

BOONE - The 14th-ranked Kirkwood volleyball team defeated 15th-ranked Highland, 29-27, 25-21, 27-25, to salvage its final match at the DMACC  tournament Saturday.

The Eagles finished with a 1-3 mark in the event.

Ady Wintermote collected 22 kills in the victory over Highland. Lauren Keane had 38 assists, Brianna Eberhardt had 20 digs and McKenzie Petersen had nine bolcks.

Kirkwood lost to 20th-ranked Neosha in five sets, 25-21, 25-23, 19-25, 20-25, 16-14, in its first match Saturday.

Margaret Micka led the Eagles against Neosha with 21 kills. Keane rolled up 52 assists and Eberhardt had 26 digs.

The split left Kirkwood with a 17-14 record. The Eagles have played a tough schedule this season and have a 3-8 mark against ranked teams.

No. 14 KCC volleyball drops 2 matches

BOONE - The 14th-ranked Kirkwood women's volleyball team lost both of its matches at the DMACC tournament in Boone Friday.

The Eagles lost to fourth-ranked Coffeyville, 3-0, and fell to Longview, 3-1.

Kirkwood fell to 16-13 overall with the setbacks.

Ady Wintermote led Kirkwood with 17 kills in the two matches. Lauren Keane had 37 assists, Brianna Eberhardt had 33 digs and McKenzie Petersen finished with 20 blocks.

No. 14 Eagles sail by Iowa Lakes

ESTHERVILLE - Ady Wintermote collected 17 kills Wednesday night as the 14th-ranked Kirkwood women's volleyball team cruised to a 3-0 victory at Iowa Lakes, 25-17, 25-14, 25-12.

With the victory, the Eagles remained tied for the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference lead with Iowa Central. Both have 5-0 league records. Kirkwood will host Iowa Central in a showdown for the ICCAC lead Oct. 11.

Abbi Tunis provided 12 kills for the Eagles and Margaret Micka had nine. Lauren Keane distributed 32 assists, Micka had 16 digs and Haleigh Durnin had four blocks.

Kirkwood has swept four of its conference opponents this season with 3-0 victories and has won 15 of 17 sets overall in league matches.

The Eagles raised their overall record to 16-11. Iowa Lakes fell to 4-20 overall and 0-5 in the conference.

Eagles split 2 matches in Kansas

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. - The 12th-ranked Kirkwood volleyball team split its final two matches at the Johnson County tournament Saturday.

The Eagles lost to Johnson County, 25-23, 25-23, 25-23, in their first match and rebounded with a 3-1 victory over North Platte, 25-16, 19-25, 25-11, 25-22.

Ady Wintermote led Kirkwood with 15 kills against Johnson County and Margaret Micka had 11. Lauren Keane collected 26 assists. Brianna Eberhardt had 17 digs, Keane 16 and Micka 12. Haleigh Durnin blocked five shots.

Wintermote finished with 16 kills against North Platte and Micka had 15. Keane distributed 43 assists. Eberhardt had 25 digs, Micka 24, Keane 17 and Wintermote 16. McKenzie Petersen blocked eight shots.

Kirkwood finished with a 1-3 record in the tournament and saw its overall mark fall to 15-11.

 

Kirkwood - Volleyball

No. 12 Eagles fall twice to ranked foes

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. - The 12th-ranked Kirkwood volleyball team dropped  both of its matches against highly ranked opponents at the Johnson County tournament in Kansas Friday.

The Eagles lost 20-25, 25-10, 25-14, 25-18, to eighth-ranked Cowley and fell 22-25, 25-23, 25-23, 25-20, to third-ranked Central (Neb.). Kirkwood won the first set in both matches, but then lost three straight games in the 3-1 defeats.

The setbacks dropped Kirkwood to 14-10 for the campaign.

Ady Wintermote had 14 kills against Cowley and Margaret Micka had 11. Lauren Keane distributed 21 assists and Grace Swenning had 12. Brianna Eberhardt had 29 digs and McKenzie Petersen blocked six shots.

Wintermote rolled up 26 kills against Central and Micka had 25. Keane  had 28 assists and Swenning finished with 25. Eberhardt came up with 31 digs. Haleigh Durnin blocked four shots.
