Kirkwood - Mens Golf

KCC golfers take 2nd at Fighting Scots

MONMOUTH, Ill. - Will Babcock, Niall Powell and Max Thrune of Kirkwood all tied for third place at the Fighting Scots Invitational Saturday at Gibson Woods golf course.

The three Eagles finished at 2-over-par 144 for the 36-hole tournament, five shots behind champion Jeffrey Perez of Black Hawk College who shot a 3-under 139.

Black Hawk won the tournament at 574, eight shots ahead of Kirkwood in the 12-team field.

Kirkwood - Mens Golf

Powell, Thrune lead Kirkwood golfers

MONMOUTH, Ill. - Niall Powell and Max Thrune of Kirkwood fired rounds of even-par 71 Friday to share the lead after 18 holes of the Fighting Scots Invitational at Gibson Woods.

Black Hawk College Gold leads the tournament at 7-over 291, with Kirkwood five shots behind in second place at 296.

The final round is Saturday.

Will Babcock of Kirkwood is tied for 10th at 3-over 74. J.D. Goodfellow and Jake Sevcik are tied for 18th at 5-over 76. Dawson Peters is tied for 32nd at 78 and Ryan Morrison is tied for 36th at 79.

Morrison, Eagles rule Blue Boy golf

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. - Ryan Morrison and the Kirkwood Eagles captured top honors at the Blue Boy Invitational at The Rail Golf Course Saturday.

Morrison won the individual title at 5-under-par 139 with rounds of 69 and 70, helped Kirkwood grab the gold by eight shots over Nebraska Wesleyan.

Morrison, a freshman from the United Kingdom, won his first collegiate golf title.

Kirkwood golfers leads Blue Boy Invitational

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. - The Kirkwood Eagles took a 10-shot lead Friday after the first round of the Blue Boy Invitational at The Rail Golf Course in Springfield, Ill.

The Eagles finished the first 18 holes with a four-man score of 287, good for a 10-shot margin over Nebraska Wesleyan.

Ryan Morrison of Kirkwood fired a 69 and is tied for first place entering the final round on Saturday. Niall Powell and Will Babcock of Kirkwood are tied for third at 72.

Kirkwood - Mens Golf

KCC golfers take 2nd at Rend Lake

WHITTINGTON, Ill. - The Kirkwood Eagles struggled on Day 2 of the Rend Lake Spring Invite Monday and finished in second place.

The Eagles held the lead after the first 18 holes Sunday at 302, but they shot 316 Monday and finished six shots behind John A. Logan College.

Max Thrune, who fired a 1-under-par 71 for Kirkwood Sunday, shot an 8-over 80 Monday and tied for fifth place at 151.
