KCC golfers shine at Iowa Lakes invite

PANORA - The Kirkwood men's golf team dominated the Iowa Lakes Spring Preview at the Lake Panorama National course Monday.

The seventh-ranked Eagles won the team championship by 24 shots as Louis Flynn, Carson Whittington and Charles Hartwig finished 1-2-3 in the individual standings.

Kirkwood ended with a two-day total of 589 shots in the 10-team tournament. Waldorf placed second at 613.

Flynn claimed the title with rounds of 74 and 70 for an even-par total of 144. Whittington finished second at 76-70=146 and Hartwig was third at 73-74=147. Flynn and Whittington fired rounds of 2-under Monday.

Eddie Doyle of Kirkwood placed 10th at 77-75=152. Jordan Even tied for 19th at 78-78=156.

Kirkwood leads Iowa Lakes golf tourney

PANORA - The Kirkwood Eagles grabbed a six-shot lead after the first round of the Iowa Lakes Invitational golf tournament Sunday at the Lake Panorama National course.

Kirkwood freshman Charlie Hartwig fashioned a 1-over-par 73 to share first place after 18 holes. Louis Flynn, another freshman, submited a 2-over 74 for the Eagles and is tied for third place.

Kirkwood finished with a four-man score of 300 for a six-shot league over Waldorf. Carson Whittington shot a 76 for the seventh-ranked Eagles and Eddie Doyle had a 77.

The final round is scheduled for Monday.

Kirkwood golf ranked 7th in nation

The Kirkwood men's golf team is ranked seventh in the nation in the latest NJCAA Division II Coaches Poll.

South Mountain, the defending national champion, has been ranked No. 1 all season.

Kirkwood golfers win NJCAA Fall Preview

PLYMOUTH, Ind. - The Kirkwood men's golf team captured top honors at the 2015 NJCAA Fall Preview tournament Sunday at the Swan Lake Resort course in Plymouth, Ind.

The Eagles were sitting in fourth place after the opening round Saturday, but they improved their performance by 15 shots in the second round and won the tournament by two shots over Parkland College.

Jordan Even of Kirkwood fired a 2-under-par 70 for the best round of the day Sunday. He tied teammate Charlie Hartwig for fourth place in the individual standings at 7-over 151.

Tiger Chaisuk of Owens Community College won the tournament at 1-over 145.

Kirkwood golfers 4th at NJCAA meet

PLYMOUTH, Ind. - The Kirkwood men's golf team stands in fourth place after the first round of the 2015 NJCAA Fall Preview Saturday at the Swan Lake Resort in Plymouth, Ind.

The final round is scheduled for Sunday.

Owens Community College holds the 18-hole lead at 304. Kirkwood finds itself 11 shots off the pace at 315.

Charlie Hartwig led the Eagles Saturday with a 4-over-par 76 and is tied for fourth place. Tiger Chaisuk of Owens has the lead at 1-under 71.
