Eagles claim 2nd at Clarke golf

PEOSTA - The Kirkwood men's golf team finished second at the Clarke Fall Classic at Thunder Hills Country Club in Peosta Monday.

St. Ambrose won the title at 606. Kirkwood finished six strokes back at 612 in the 11-team field.

Dylan Daxon of Kirkwood tied for second with rounds of 76 and 75 for a 36-hole total of 9-over 151. Hunter Van Veen of DMACC was the medalist by

one shot at 150.

Kirkwood in third at Clarke invite

PEOSTA - Kirkwood is in third place, just four shots out of the lead after the first of the Clarke Fall Classic at the Thunder Hills Country Club.

St. Ambrose (307) holds the lead after the first day on the par-71 layout. Dubuque Blue (309) is second, followed by Kirkwood at 311.

Hunter Van Veen of DMACC leads the individual race after shooting a 71. Kirkwood's Dan Cuttcomp is tied for second after shooting 75.

The tournament concludes Monday with a 9 a.m. start.

Chilcott fires 68 as Mustangs take lead

Nathan Chilcott shot a 4-under-par 68 Saturday to help Mount Mercy take the first-round lead at the Cropper Golf Classic at Hunters Ridge.

Chilcott has a three-shot edge over seven golfers heading into the final round today.

Mount Mercy leads AIB, 286-290, in the team standings.

Blaine Buhr of Kirkwood fired a 1-under 71 and is tied for second place. The Eagles are in fifth place in the standings.

Tyler Gunderson shot a 4-over 76 for Coe, which is in 21st place out of 22 teams.

Chilcott ties for 18th at JUCO golf

PLYMOUTH, Ind. - Nathan Chilcott of Kirkwood struggled in the final round Friday and tied for 18th at the NJCAA Division II national golf tournament at the Swan Lake Resort Black Course in Plymouth, Ind.

Chilcott, from Wales, was tied for fifth place entering the final day of the 72-hole tournament, but he shot an 11-over-par 83 and faded from contention.

Chilcott finished with a four-day total of 14-over 302. He finished 15 strokes behind Levi Fink of NIACC, who won the national title at 1-under 287.

Chilcott, from Wales, was tied for fifth place entering the final day of the 72-hole tournament, but he shot an 11-over-par 83 and faded from contention.
