No.7 Eagles pound Iowa Lakes twice

SIOUX CITY — The seventh-ranked Kirkwood Community College softball team drubbed Iowa Lakes, 13-2 and 16-2, in an ICCAC conference doubleheader Friday on the road.

Both games lasted only five innings.

The Eagles are riding an 11-game winning streak, raising their records to 23-4 overall and 6-0 in the league.

Tara Walls went 4-for-5 with four RBIs in the first game and Brittney Lash had a double and three RBIs. Sam Belz pitched a complete game for the victory.

Lexi Quandt went 3-for-3 with five RBIs in the second game. Chasney Jenkins was 3-for-3 with three RBIs and three runs scored. Jenna Schulte was 2-for-2 with two RBIs. Shy Saladino tossed four innings for the victory.

No.7 KCC softball team sweeps DMACC

BOONE - The seventh-ranked Kirkwood Eagles swept a conference doubleheaderfrom DMACC Wednesday, 4-3 and 4-0, in Boone.

Kirkwood has won nine straight games, raising its records to 21-4 overall and 4-0 in the ICCAC conference.

The Eagles trailed, 2-1, entering the sixth inning of the first game, but two runs scored on an error by DMACC and Tara Walls followed with an RBI.

Sam Belz pitched a complete game for Kirkwood.

Walls went 3-for-4 and scored two runs in the second game. Lexi Quandt had two hits and two RBIs. Alicia Crivaro also had two RBIs. Shy Saladino pitched a three-hitter with nine strikeouts for 6 2/3 innings and Belz got the final out.

ESTHERVILLE - The fifth-ranked Kirkwood softball team swept Iowa Lakes, 13-0 and 10-0, in the ICCAC conference opener in Estherville Sunday.

Sam Belz (9-3, 0.74 ERA) pitched a two-hit shutout in the opener with nine strikeouts. Shy Saladino (8-0, 0.67 ERA) tossed a two-hit shutout with seven strikeouts in the second game. Both contests lasted only five innings.

Kirkwood - Softball

No. 5 Eagles sweep Central Methodist

FULTON, Mo. - The fifth-ranked Kirkwood softball team swept a doubleheader from Central Methodist Tuesday, 12-2 and 15-2, with both games lasting only five innings.

Taylor Wise, Krysta Tutsch, Tara Walls, Alicia Crivara and Jenna Schulte hit home runs in the doubleheader for the Eagles (17-4).

Wise was 2-for-3 with four RBIs in the first game. Natalie Clark was 2-for-3 with three RBIs. Chasney Jenkins scored three runs and Tutsch had two RBIs.

Crivara went 2-for-4 and drove in three runs in the second game. Walls was 4-for-4 with two doubles. Lexi Quandt went 3-for-4 and Brittney Lash was 2-for-2. Schulte drove in three runs.

Kirkwood softball wins 3 games

CROWDER, Mo. - The Kirkwood softball team won all three of its games at the Crowder Classic in Crowder, Mo., Monday.

The fifth-ranked Eagles topped Seminole State, 4-0, on a four-hit shutout by Sam Belz. Chasney Jenkins and Erin Weno went 2-for-4.

Kirkwood swept two games from Central Methodist, 8-0 and 11-2, raising its record to 15-4 for the season.
