Hobbs, Hansche spark Coe by Wartburg
WAVERLY - Aleena Hobbs scored 20 points Wednesday night and Mickey Hansche added 17 as the Coe women's basketball team trimmed Wartburg, 71-65, in an Iowa Conference game at Levick Arena in Waverly.
Hansche made the 200th 3-pointer of her career and became the 12th player in school history to surpass 900 points.
Hobbs and Allie Wirth grabbed nine rebounds for the Kohawks (12-6, 3-4). Jordan Holmes had five assists.
Coe took a precarious 63-62 lead into the final minute. Hansche hit a big 3-pointer with 25 seconds left to give the Kohawks a little breathing room at 66-62.
Holmes came up with a steal and hit two free throws for a 68-62 advantage. Wartburg hit a 3-pointer to pull within 68-65, but Hansche made two free throws and Wirth added another to finish the victory.
