Gunderson takes sixth at Dubuque invite

DUBUQUE - The Coe College men's golf team cut eight strokes off its first round score on Sunday, as the Kohawks finished eighth at the Dubuque Fall Invite.

Senior Tyler Gunderson led the way for the Kohawks, as he shot a season-low 74 on Sunday. His 153 for the two days gave him a sixth place finish. It was the 17th top-10 finish of his career.

Sophomore Anthony Worden shot an 89 on Sunday, as he finished 36th with a 174 over the two days.

Simpson's Trent Lindeman was the medalist with a 1-over-par 141.

Coe's Gunderson 11th at Dubuque golf

DUBUQUE - Tyler Gunderson of Coe College shot a 9-over-par 79 Saturday and is tied for 11th place after the first round of the University of Dubuque Fall Invitational at the Dubuque Golf & Country Club.

The Kohawks are in eighth place out of nine teams.

Trent Lindenman of Simpson took the first-day lead with a 2-over 72.

Mustangs take second at own tourney

Mount Mercy came up three shots short, finishing tied for second behind Illinois Wesleyan in the Mount Mercy Invitational Sunday at Hunters Ridge.

The winners had a team score of 567. Mount Mercy and Grand View each had 570, Kirkwood was fourth at 584. Coe finished 22nd at 684.

Mount Mercy's best individual finishers were Nathan Chilcott and Jack South, who each finished tied for fifth at 141, four shots behind medalist Myles Pfingsten of Grand View.

Chilcott fires 68 as Mustangs take lead

Nathan Chilcott shot a 4-under-par 68 Saturday to help Mount Mercy take the first-round lead at the Cropper Golf Classic at Hunters Ridge.

Chilcott has a three-shot edge over seven golfers heading into the final round today.

Mount Mercy leads AIB, 286-290, in the team standings.

Blaine Buhr of Kirkwood fired a 1-under 71 and is tied for second place. The Eagles are in fifth place in the standings.

Tyler Gunderson shot a 4-over 76 for Coe, which is in 21st place out of 22 teams.

Coe's Gunderson 4th at IIAC golf

DUBUQUE - Tyler Gunderson of Coe finished fourth at the Iowa Conference men's golf tournament Saturday at the Dubuque Golf & Country Club with a 72-hole score of 301.

Gunderson missed finishing second by two strokes.

Eric Wolfe of Dubuque won the tournament at 4-over-par 288. Dubuque won the team championship for the first time since 1975.

Gunderson had rounds of 74, 73, 75 and 79 and was named all-conference for the third time. Coe finished sixth out of eight teams at 1,282.
