Monson third at Mount Mercy invite

Meg Monson of Mount Mercy shot an 85 Sunday in the final round of the Mount Mercy Spring Invitational at Hunters Ridge to finish in for third place.

Monson shot an 81 on Saturday and finished at 166, two shots behind winner Danielle Ducklow of Viterbo. Erin Isaacson  of Viterbo was second at 165.

The 1-2 finish led Viterbo to the team title at 676, 28 shots ahead of runner-up Clarke. Mount Mercy ended up fifth and Coe finished ninth. Madi Goodfellow of Mount Mercy shot an two-day total of 171 to finish ninth.

Bethany Lehman led Coe with a 183.

Monson paces Mount Mercy golfers

Meg Monson of Mount Mercy shot an 81 Saturday to stand in second place after the opening round of the Mount Mercy Spring Invitational at Hunters Ridge.

Madi Goodfellow of Mount Mercy shot an 82 to help the Mustangs grab second place in the team standings behind Viterbo heading into the final round Sunday.

Katelyn Gille of Ashford fired an 80 Saturday to take a one-shot lead into the final round.

Bethany Lehman led Coe with a 92.

Coe's Franson earns IIAC golf honor

DUBUQUE - Coe freshman Jessica Franson finished 10th in the Iowa Conference women's golf tournament Saturday and became only the third player in school history and the first since 2007 to be named to the all-conference team.

Franson, from North Linn High School, finished the 72-hole tournament with a 12-over-par 84 at the Dubuque Golf & Country Club.

Coe placed fifth out of eight teams in the tournament.

Rochelle Beardsley of Wartburg claimed medalist honors and led Wartburg to the team championship.

Lang leads Coe at IIAC golf

DUBUQUE - Erin Lang of Coe is tied for 15th place heading into the final round of the Iowa Conference women's golf tournament at the Dubuque Golf & Country Club.

Lang has shot rounds of 89, 81 and 97 for a 54-hole score of 267. Jessica Franson of Coe is one shot behind Lang at 268.

Coe is in fifth place in the standings heading into the final round Saturday.

Morgan McMillan of Wartburg holds the 54-hole lead at 233. Wartburg has a commanding 54-shot lead over Central College for the title.

Lang leads Coe at IIAC golf

CEDAR FALLS - Erin Lang of Coe shot a 9-over-par 81 Saturday and is tied for 13th place after the first two rounds of the Iowa Conference women's golf tournament at Pheasant Ridge in Cedar Falls.

Lang has a 36-hole score of 89-81=170. The Kohawks are in fifth place in the team standings.

The final two rounds of the tournament will be held Oct. 3-4 at the Dubuque Golf & Country Club.
