Coe softball splits in Florida

CLERMONT, Fla. – After a late-inning 2-1 softball win over Muhlenberg in their first game, the Coe Kohawks dropped a 9-2 game to Immaculata on Tuesday. The loss was the first for Coe this season.

In game one, the Kohawks (5-1) got on the board early as senior Nicole Gentile led off Coe's half of the first inning with a home run. Other than an unearned run that Muhlenberg scored in the third, sophomore Arran Weeces shut the Mules' offense down.

With the scored tied 1-1 heading into the bottom of the seventh, freshman Maliah Fligg singled, starting a Kohawk rally. Junior Taylor Riedl laid down a sacrifice bunt, moving freshman pinch-runner Erin Lang into scoring position with just one out. A single by sophomore McCall Meade moved the runner to third and freshman Mallory McArtor plated Lang with the game-winning hit.
