Quincy hands Coe women first loss

Quincy University, an NCAA Division II school, squeaked by the Coe, 5-4, on Sunday at the Clark Racquet Center to hand the Kohawks their first loss of the season.

The visiting Hawks led 2-1 after doubles play. Coe's lone win came as Haley Resnick and Sarah Lasecki defeated Elizabeth Kuenzi and G. Papachrisanthou, 8-3, at No. 2.

Coe quickly tied the match in singles play as Jordan Ferree beat Kuenzi, 6-2, 6-3, at No. 3s.

Quincy took a 3-2 lead as Amy Kuhle downed Resnick 1-6, 6-3, 6-3 at No. 1. The Kohawks took their first lead of the match with simultaneous wins from Laura Birky at No. 4 and Amy Sebastian at No. 2. Birky downed Michelle Gass, 6-2, 4-6, 7-6, while Sebastian beat Sydney Lynch, 6-4, 6-7, 7-5.

The Hawks took victories in the final two singles matches to get the win.

Coe is now 11-1.

Coe - Women's Tennis

Tiedt stresses wellness with Coe tennis

Kris Tiedt has focused her life on the wellness of others and now as the head women’s tennis coach at Coe she can do just that.

Tiedt played tennis at Northern Illinois University. She still plays in league tournaments in the area and national tournaments.

Tiedt served as an assistant coach for both the men’s and women’s tennis teams at Coe under Eric Rodgers for five years, but now she's leading the women's program and Rodgers is leading the men's program.

Tiedt also works as the strength and conditioning coach for men's and women's soccer, men's and women's tennis, and men's and women's golf.

Wellness is important to her.

Coe women dominate IIAC tennis

PELLA - The Coe women's tennis team continued its dominance of the Iowa Conference tournament Saturday.

Coe freshman Haley Resnick defeated top-seeded Arantxa Martinez of Dubuque, 6-3, 1-6, 1-0 for the Flight A singles title at the Kuyper Athletic Complex in Pella.

Laura Birky and Jordan Ferree of Coe captured the Flight A doubles title with an 8-5 verdict over teammates Sarah Lasecki and Resnick in the finals.

This was the fourth straight Flight A singles title for the Kohawks and the seventh straight Flight A doubles crown.

Resnick defeated Ferree, 6-3, 6-0, in the semifinals and Martinez topped Amy Sebastian of Coe, 6-3, 6-2.

Coe women claim IIAC tennis title

The Coe College women's tennis team claimed its fourth straight Iowa Conference title Thursday by winning two meets at the Clark Racquet Center.

The Kohawks topped Dubuque, 8-1, and blitzed Loras, 9-0, for their 29th and 30th straight victories in league meets.

Amy Sebastian and Tamara Washington won both of their singles matches for Coe.

Coe women net 28th in row

WAVERLY - Haley Resnick rolled to a 6-1, 6-0 victory at No. 1 singles Wednesday as the Coe women's tennis team topped Wartburg, 8-1, in an Iowa Conference meet in Waverly.

The Kohawks (9-0, 5-0) have won 28 straight Iowa Conference meets and can clinch the league crown Thursday at home against Dubuque and Loras.

Amy Sebastian, Jordan Ferree, Laura Birky, Sarah Lasecki and Diannah Watson also won their singles matches for Coe.
