Kohawks run 4th in distance medley

DECORAH - The Coe College men's track team placed fourth in the distance medley at the Iowa Conference Indoor meet Friday in Decorah.

Jon Amling, Nate Wood, Joshua Randall and Austin Springsteen covered the race in 10:47.84.

The Kohawks finished fifth in the 4x200 relay with Anton Jones, Erik Franklin, Clayton Birkes and Beau Freeborn clocked in 1:33.68.

Coe - Men's Track

Devine runs 2nd in mile for Coe

PLATTEVILLE, Wis. - Shea Devine placed second in the mile run Saturday for Coe College at the Platteville Invitational track meet.

Devine was clocked in 4:31.18. Teammate Austin Springsteen placed sixth in the same event in 4:35.03. The Kohawk men also placed second in the distance medley.

The Coe women's track team finished second in the 4x400 relay (4:14.95). Laura Bybee was third in the pole vault (9 feet, 9 inches).

Kirstin Franklin placed fourth in the triple jump (33-8), Ashley Nemechek was fifth in the 60 hurdles (10.07), Amanda Brummet was fifth in the 400 (1:02.32) and Beth Heims placed sixth in the 3000 (11:35.05).

Deeds, Bybee place 2nd for Coe track

GRINNELL - Alex Deeds placed second in the weight throw and the shot put for the Coe College track team Saturday at a meet in Grinnell.

Laura Bybee placed second for the Kohawks in the women's pole vault.

Kohawks ready for indoor track season

Aaron Carley had a good workout Wednesday afternoon and is looking forward to the start of the indoor track season this Saturday at the Sol Butler Invitational in Dubuque.

You get the impression that Carley, 32, would love to compete in the long jump, triple jump and sprints like he did as an All-American at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point 10 years ago, but he's equally excited now as the head coach at Coe.

Carley has young teams as he begins his second season with the Kohawks, but he thinks there's good potential as he builds the program.
