Mount Mercy - Men's Golf

Morgan fires 67 for Kirkwood golfers

MORAVIA - James Morgan of Kirkwood fired a 5-under-67 Monday and  climbed into a tie for third place after two rounds of The Warrior  Challenge at The Preserve on Rathbun Lake Golf Course.

Morgan stands at 4-under 140 for 36 holes heading into the final round  Tuesday, three shots behind the leader. His 67 is a new career-low.

Philip Nelson of Mount Mercy is tied for eighth place at 1-under 143.

Indian Hills leads the team standings at 17-under 559. Kirkwood is  third at 1-under 575 and Mount Mercy is fourth at 12-over 588.

Mount Mercy - Men's Golf

Eagles, Mustangs win Klocke golf titles

Sterling McIlravy of Kirkwood earned medalist honors and led the Eagles to top honors in the Klocke Family Classic golf tournament at Hunters Ridge Sunday.

The Mount Mercy women's golf team won the championship of their division behind a third-place showing by Allyson Wertz. Valarie Davidson of Mount Mercy, who was not playing for the "A" team,  finished in second place in the individual standings.

McIlravy fired rounds of 66 and 73 for a 36-hole total of 5-under 139,  edging teammate Epperly by one shot for the title. Epperly carded  rounds of 72 and 68. James Morgan of Kirkwood tied for third.

Mount Mercy finished second in the men's standings, seven shots behind  Kirkwood. Kaleb Hagge of Mount Mercy tied Epperly for second place.

McIlravy sizzles for Kirkwood golfers

Sterling McIlravy of Kirkwood absolutely scorched the links at Hunters  Ridge Golf Course Saturday.

McIlravy, a sophomore from Solon, fired a 6-under-par 66 to steer the  third-ranked Eagles into first place at the Klocke Family Classic.

The final round of the 36-hole tournament will be played Sunday.

McIlravy owns a three-shot lead heading into the final 18 holes.  Kirkwood leads Mount Mercy in the team standings by six shots, 284 to  290.

Mount Mercy - Men's Golf

Mustangs take 4th at Heart golf

SUNRISE BEACH, Mo. - The Mount Mercy men's golf team struggled in the  final round of the Heart of America Conference tournament Wednesday  and finished fourth out of nine teams.

The Mustangs submitted four-man scores of 305 and 303 in the first two  rounds, but they ballooned to 314 Wednesday at The Club at Porto Cima  and finished at 58-over-par 922.

Missouri Valley captured the title at 37-over 901. Hunter Bettis of  Culver-Stockton was the medalist at 2-over 218.

Philip Nelson placed fourth for Mount Mercy at 9-over 225 with rounds  of 77, 72 and 76.

Bruyeres leads Mustangs to golf title

FORT DODGE - William Bruyeres of Mount Mercy captured medalist honors  Monday and led the Mustangs to the team championship at the Iowa  Central Spring Invitational at the Fort Dodge Country Club.

Bruyeres tore up the course Sunday with a 5-under-par 66 in the first  round, but he still won the tournament by three strokes after carding  a 5-over 76 in the final round Monday. He finished at even-par 142 for  36 holes.

Mount Mercy submitted a team score of 25-over 593 for a 10-shot  victory over Southwestern Community College.
