Mustangs, South capture Ashford golf titles
EAST MOLINE, Ill. - Jack South followed up an opening-round 69 with a 70 to take top honors, leading Mount Mercy a seven-shot win in the team competition at the Ashford Invitational on Monday at Short Hills Country Club.
The Mustangs shot a team total of 581, seven better than host Ashford, which finished at 588. Ashford's Sergio Garcia took second in the individual portion of the event, finishing five shots behind South.
Mount Mercy's Nathan Chilcott (146) finished fourth while teammates Jacob Selander and Matt Schlueter (148) tied for fifth.
