Mount Mercy women place 2nd

OSKALOOSA - The Mount Mercy women's golf team finished second at the Statesmen Classic at the Edmundson Golf Course Tuesday.

William Penn, the host school, won the tournament by a whopping 79 shots over the Mustangs in the five-team event.

Allyson Wertz of Mount Mercy shot rounds of 78 and 80 to place fifth in the individual standings at 158. Elisa Warne of William Penn took medalist honors at 145.

1. William Penn 590, 2. Mount Mercy 669, 3. William Penn 'B' 686, 4.  Saint Ambrose 717, 5. Culver-Stockton 733.

MOUNT MERCY - 5. Allyson Wertz 78-80=158, 9. Casey Noble 80-88=168, 11. Natalea Cook 84-85=169, 15. Valarie Davidson 87-87=174, 17. Breanna Maher 88-92=180.

OSKALOOSA - The Mount Mercy women's golf team is in second place at the Statesmen Classic heading into the final round Tuesday.

The Mustangs posted a score of 329 in the five-team tournament at the Edmundson Golf Course Monday. They are 37 shots behind William Penn after 18 holes of the 36-hole event.

Allyson Wertz led Mount Mercy Monday with a 78.

TEAM STANDINGS

1. William Penn 292, 2. Mount Mercy 329, 3. Saint Ambrose 351, 4. William Penn 'B' 352, 5. Culver-Stockton 366.

Noble leads Mustangs to Clarke golf title

GALENA, Ill. - Casey Noble captured medalist honors Sunday to help the Mount Mercy women's golf team win the Clarke Fall Invitational  tournament at Eagle Ridge South.

Noble fired rounds of 80 and 81 for a 36-hole total of 161 to win the individual title by seven shots.

Mount Mercy finished with a two-day total of 687 for a healthy 20-shot margin over the University of Dubuque in the team standings.

Mount Mercy - Women's Golf

Mustang women lead Clarke golf

GALENA, Ill. - Casey Noble shot an 8-over-par 80 Saturday as the Mount Mercy women's golf team moved into first place at the Clarke Fall Invitational at the Eagle Ridge South course in Galena, Ill.

The final round is scheduled for Sunday.

Noble has a two-shot lead heading into Day 2. Allyson Wertz of Mount Mercy shot an 84 Saturday and is tied for fourth.

Mount Mercy owns a 14-shot lead over Saint Ambrose heading into the final 18 holes.

Mount Mercy - Women's Golf

Bruyeres claims Klocke Family Classic

William Bruyeres of Mount Mercy University captured top honors at the Klocke Family Classic golf tournament Sunday at Hunters Ridge.

Bruyeres, a senior from Brisbane, Australia, fired rounds of 67 and 69 in the 36-hole tournament and won the title at 8-under 136.

Ryan Morrison of Kirkwood tied for second place at 4-under 140 with rounds of 71 and 69.

Iowa Western won the men's title by two shots over Indian Hills. Mount Mercy finished in third place, just three shots off the pace. Kirkwood placed fourth out of 15 teams.

Iowa Western also claimed the women's crown. Lisa Lied of Iowa Western was the medalist with rounds of 77 and 71.
