Mustangs take women's golf title

The Mount Mercy women's golf team won the Mount Mercy Fall Invitational by 18 shots Saturday at Hunters Ridge.

The Mustangs finished at 688 for the 36-hole tournament.

Sydney Clement of Cardinal Stritch (Wis.) won the individual title at 5-over-par 149 with rounds of 74 and 75.

Meg Monson of Mount Mercy placed second at 162 with rounds of 77 and 85. Madison Goodfellow of Mount Mercy finished fifth and Kelsey Dircks tied for eighth.

TEAM STANDINGS

1. Mount Mercy 688, 2. AIB 706, 3. Cardinal Stritch 715, 4. DMACC 720, 5. Culver-Stockton 790, 6. Viterbo 792.

MOUNT MERCY: 2. Meg Monson 77-85=162, 5. Madison Goodfellow 83-84=167, 8. Kelsey Dircks 86-89=175, 14. Chelsea Gryp 92-92=184, 26. Ludmilla Machnicki 103-103=206.

Mount Mercy women lead golf meet

Meg Monson fired a 5-over-par 77 Friday to help the Mount Mercy women's golf team take the lead after the first round of the Mount Mercy Fall Invitational at Hunters Ridge.

Sydney Clement of Cardinal Stritch (Wis.) has the individual lead after 18 holes at 2-over 74. Monson sits in second place with her 77.

The Mustangs have an eight-shot lead on AIB heading into the final round Saturday.

TEAM STANDINGS

1. Mount Mercy 338, 2. AIB 346, 3. DMACC 357, 4. Cardinal Stritch (Wis.) 358, 5. Culver-Stockton 393, 6. Viterbo 396.

MOUNT MERCY: Meg Monson 77, Madison Goodfellow 83, Kelsey Dircks 86, Chelsea Gryp 92, Ludmila Machnicki 103.
