Pottratz helps Mustangs kick Clarke

DUBUQUE - Payton Pottratz booted home a pair of goals Wednesday to help the Mount Mercy women's soccer team trim Clarke University, 2-1, in a Heart of America Conference match in Dubuque.

Pottratz began the scoring with a goal in the 40th minute late in the first half for a 1-0 lead. Clarke countered in the 70th minute, but Pottratz struck again three minutes later with another unassisted goal for a 2-1 lead and the margin of victory.

Sarah Johnson played 63 minutes, 47 seconds in goal for Mount Mercy and turned away all five of the shots that Clarke sent her way.

Mustang women booted by Graceland

LAMONI - The Mount Mercy women's soccer team relinquished a 3-1 lead Saturday and lost to Graceland, 4-3, in overtime in a Heart of America Conference match on the road.

Isabel Alvarez, Maisey McCoy and Carly Walker scored in the first half to give the Mustangs a 3-1 lead at intermission, but Graceland scored twice in the second half to tie the match and struck again in overtime for the victory.

Olivia Ramsey was credited with an assist on the goal by Walker.

Mount Mercy fell to 3-2-2 overall and 1-1 in the conference. Graceland raised its records to 2-5 overall and 1-1 in the league.

Mount Mercy women boot Vikings

Jamie Hill and Payton Pottratz scored goals during a two-minute flurry in the second half Tuesday night to help the Mount Mercy women's soccer team trim Grand View, 2-1, in a Heart of America match at the Plaster Athletic Complex.

Hill scored an unassisted goal in the 67th minute to tie the match, 1-1. Pottratz tallied in the 69th minute with an assist from Olivia Ramsey for a 2-1 lead that proved to be the game-winner.

Sarah Johnson played the entire 90 minutes in goal for Mount Mercy and made an important save.

Diallo sparks Mustangs to 2-2 draw

Souleymane Diallo scored a pair of goals Saturday to help the Mount Mercy men's soccer team battle to a 2-2 draw with Waldorf in double-overtime at the Plaster Athletic Complex.

Waldorf grabbed a 1-0 lead, but Diallo responded with an unassisted goal in the 40th minute for a 1-1 tie at intermission.

Waldorf went ahead, 2-1, in the second half, but Diallo tallied again with an assist from Sava Dragic in the 79th minute.

Neither team scored in overtime and the match ended in a 2-2 tie after 110 minutes of soccer.

Lady Mustangs booted by Wesleyan

LINCOLN, Neb. - The Mount Mercy women's soccer team dropped a 4-1 verdict to Nebraska Wesleyan on Sunday.

Nebraska Wesleyan scored the first four goals of the match for a commanding lead. Andrea Lopez found the net for Mount Mercy in the 73rd minute from 25 yards away.

The outcome dropped the Mustangs to 2-1-2 for the season. Nebraska Wesleyan raised its record to 4-1-0.
