Mount Mercy women boot St. Mary

OMAHA, Neb. - Andrea Lopez and Isabel Alvarez scored goals in the first half Saturday to help the Mount Mercy women's soccer team trim the College of St. Mary, 2-1, in Nebraska.

Lopez scored on a free kick from 20 yards away in the eighth minute to give Mount Mercy a 1-0 lead. Alvarez scored following a corner kick on an assist from Payton Pottratz in the 15th minute for a 2-0 advantage.

St. Mary tallied in the 16th minute of the first half to pull within 2-1, but neither team scored again.

Mount Mercy - Women's Soccer

Mustangs, Coe battle to 0-0 draw

The Mount Mercy and Coe women's soccer teams battled to a scoreless tie in double-overtime Wednesday at Clark Field.

The match lasted 120 minutes without either team finding the net.

Sarah Johnson made two saves for Mount Mercy and Kacey Baker turned away five shots for Coe.

The outcome left Mount Mercy with a 1-0-2 record. Coe is 1-1-1 for the campaign.

Mustang women boot Hannibal, 9-0

Payton Pottratz, Holli Jones and Isabel Alvarez scored two goals Saturday as the Mount Mercy women's soccer team blasted Hannibal-LaGrange, 9-0, in a non-conference match at the Plaster Athletic Complex.

Andrea Lopez, Adelaide Bayne and Maggie Murphy also notched goals for the Mustangs in the romp.

Carly Walker and Megan Hall had two assists. Lopez, Olivia Ramsey, Alvarez and Murphy also had assists.

Mount Mercy - Women's Soccer

Mount Mercy women battle to 1-1 draw

SIOUX CITY - The Mount Mercy women's soccer team battled Briar Cliff on even terms for 110 minutes Monday.

The season opener for both clubs ended in a 1-1 tie in double-overtime in Sioux City.

Briar Cliff took a 1-0 lead in the 37th minute. Megan Hall countered for Mount Mercy in the 63rd minute and nobody else scored after that.

Mount Mercy - Women's Soccer

Mustang women fall in AII Tournament

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - Nikki Neal scored a pair of second half goals after assisting on a goal in the first half, leading Central Christian College to a 3-1 women's socer victory over Mount Mercy in opening round of the AII Tournament on Wednesday.

The Tigers (16-3) dominated the game, holding the Mustangs to just two shots on goal. Haley McMath scored the opening goal for Central Christian in the 21st minute before Neal put the game out of reach with tallies in 59th and 69th minutes.

Mount Mercy, which finishes its season at 6-10-2, averted the shutout when Megan Atkin scored an unassisted goal in the 70th minute.
