Defending champs sweep Mount Mercy

MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Defending NAIA softball national champion Auburn Montgomery flexed its muscles Monday against Mount Mercy sweeping a doubleheader, 16-3 and 8-0.

In the opener, the Mustangs manage four hits in the five-inning contest. Kira Dailey and Morgan Stickles each had RBI singles for Mount Mercy (7-6).

Mount Mercy was held to two hits in the nightcap. No. 3 Auburn Montgomery is 18-4

Petersen helps Mount Mercy softball team

CEDAR FALLS - Hannah Petersen had a big weekend as the Mount Mercy softball team split two games with Ashford at the UNI-Dome in Cedar Falls.

Petersen, a junior from Cedar Rapids Jefferson, pitched a complete game and went 2-for-2 with an RBI as the Mustangs beat Ashford, 5-2, in the season opener on Saturday. She went 3-for-4 with two doubles and two RBIs as the designated hitter in a 7-6 loss to Ashford on Sunday.

Ellie Rizor drove in two runs for Mount Mercy in the 5-2 victory. Shannon Stone had two hits for the Mustangs in the 7-6 setback. L.J. Putzier hit a solo home run for Mount Mercy on Sunday.
