Jeff boys tumble at Pleasant Valley

BETTENDORF - Jeffrey Kardell scored 15 points Tuesday night as Pleasant Valley topped Jefferson, 56-36, in a non-conference boys basketball game in Pleasant Valley.

Tyler Konigsmark led Jefferson with 12 points.

Engle’s 26 lead Marion

Craig Engle had 26 points, including six 3-point goals, to lead the Marion boys basketball team to a 51-40 win over Jefferson on Saturday in Marion.

The score was tied 24-24 at halftime, but the Indians built a 37-33 lead at the end of the third quarter and continued to pull away in the fourth.

Devin Quinn added 10 points for the Indians, who improved to 2-1.

Adam Van Oort had 12 points for the J-Hawks, who fell to 0-2.

Jeff boys drop opener to Clinton

Derrick Howard scored 19 points Tuesday night as Clinton defeated Jefferson, 66-40, in the opening game of the boys basketball season at Jefferson.

Tyler Konigsmark paced the J-Hawks with 13 points.

Olson brothers pick UNI, Kirkwood

It's been a good week for the Olson brothers of Cedar Rapids and their college basketball careers.

Taylor Olson has accepted an offer to join the University of Northern Iowa basketball team as an invited walk-on and his younger brother Jacob has accepted an offer to play at Kirkwood.

The Olson brothers starred at Jefferson High School, where they were all-state selections. Taylor Olson played at Kirkwood the past two years and now Jacob Olson will be following in his footsteps.

Both brothers are point guards who can handle the ball and score.
