Jefferson - Girls Cross Country

Homan, Hargrove pace J-Hawk runners

ANAMOSA - Nate Homan and Adriana Hargrove led the Jefferson cross country teams at the Anamosa Invitational Saturday. Homan placed 15th in the boys race to help the J-Hawks finish fourth out of 13 teams.

Hargrove placed 16th in the girls trace as the J-Hawks finished sixth out of 12 squads.

Jefferson - Girls Cross Country

Wash boys third at Cedar Falls CC meet

CEDAR FALLS - Finbar Berry's sixth-place finish led the Washington Warriors to a third-place overall finish in the boys portion of the Rich Engel Classic. Thursday at Birdsall Park.

The Warriors finished with 133 points. Cedar Falls, led by individual champion Sam Schillinger, had the top three finishers in the race and won with 27 points.

Dubuque Senior (81) was second.

Muscatine took the grils title with 41 points, led by individual champion Brina Kraft (14.56). Cedar Rapids Kennedy topped Metro entrants, finishing sixth. Washington's Sarah Altemeier was the top Metro individual, taking eighth in 16:11.

Jefferson - Girls Cross Country

Lions run away with Linn-Mar Invy

The Linn-Mar High School cross country teams dominated their own invitational at Lowe Park in Marion Saturday morning.

The Linn-Mar girls swept the top five spots in their race for a perfect score of 15 points to easily outdistance the six-team field. The Linn-Mar boys nearly duplicated the feat by sweeping the top four spots in their race.

Amber Decker sped to victory over the 4K girls course in 15 minutes, 18 seconds for a 13-second victory over teammate Maddie Saville.

Dalton Gosch claimed top honors in the 5K boys race in 16 minutes, 27 seconds for a 19-second victory over teammate Ryan Murphy.

Jefferson - Girls Cross Country

J-Hawk girls finish third at IMS

KALONA - Led by a ninth-place finish from junior Sarah Hanna, the Jefferson girls cross country team finished third Tuesday at the IMS Early Bird Invitational.

Hanna ran the 4K course in 17:05.84. Muscatine sophomore Brina Kraft won the race in 15:23.22.

Muscatine won the seven-team meet with 35 points. Iowa City High (36) was second, followed by the J-Hawks (92).
