Machula is medalist at Airport golf

Emily Machula of Cedar Rapids Prairie shot a 36 Tuesday to claim medalist honors in a triangular golf meet at Airport National.

Kandis O'Donnell shot a 40 to help the Washington Warriors win the meet.

TEAM STANDINGS

1. Washington 166, 2. Prairie 174, 3. Jefferson 204.

WASHINGTON: Kandis O'Donnell 40, Grace Claassen 41, Brett Visser 42, Mady Goodwin 43, Devon O'Donnell 49, Kate Nash 49.

PRAIRIE: Emily Machula 36, Grace Lindgren 46, Hannah Stebral 46, Peyton Staab 46, Amanda Happel 47, Lexi Poundstone 52.

Rams top Saints, J-Hawks in MVC meet

Dubuque Senior dominated a Mississippi Valley Conference triangular girls golf meet at St. Andrews Thursday.

The Rams finished with 190 strokes, followed by Xavier (256) and Jefferson (262).

Maddie Hawkins of Dubuque was the medalist at 7-over-par 42.

XAVIER: Shelby Younggreen 56, Madi Ries 57, Shelby Olson 67, Jordyn Boge 76.

JEFFERSON: Regan Grekoff 55, Emily Smith 66, Jordan Henderson 66, Ciara Hammons 76.

Hargens takes 2nd at CRANDIC golf

Sierra Hargens of Kennedy shot a 12-over-par 83 on a cold, windy day to finish second at the CRANDIC golf tournament at the Ellis Golf Course Wednesday.

Sarah Overton of Iowa City High claimed medalist honors with a 10-over 81. Overton and Hargens were the only two players to crack 90 in adverse conditions.

Iowa City West won the team championship by 25 shots over Iowa City High. Xavier finished third in the team standings and Kennedy was fourth, followed by Washington, Prairie, Marion, Linn-Mar and Jefferson.

Amy Olberding and Catie Locher of Xavier tied for fifth place in the individual standings with 91's.

Hargens leads Kennedy golfers at Ellis

Sierra Hargens of Kennedy fired a 6-over-par 42 Tuesday at Ellis Park to share medalist honors in a Mississippi Valley Conference quadrangular meet.

Lourdes Allen de Salazar of Hempstead also shot a 42, leading her team to the title.

Team Standings

1. Hempstead 182, 2. Kennedy 188, 3. Jefferson 244, Waterloo East 263.

Kennedy: Sierra Hargens 42, Val Davidson 44, Nicole DeCoste 50, Abby Krueger 52, Abbie Haller 57, Katie Choate 58.

Jefferson: Emily Smith 58, Regan Grekoff 61, Ciara Hammons 61, Victoria Day 64, Jordan Henderson 69, Paige Archer 90.

Wash girls claim MVC golf meet

Brett Visser shot a 5-over-par 41 Thursday to help the Washington girls golf team win a Mississippi Valley Conference quadrangular meet at Twin Pines.

Sarah Overton of Iowa City High claimed medalist honors with a 1-over 37. Visser was the runnerup.
