Hummell brothers pace J-Hawk swimmers

Luke Hummell and Paul Hummell won three events apiece Thursday night as Jefferson dunked Iowa City High, 115-48, in a Mississippi Valley Conference swimming meet at Jefferson.

Luke Hummell, a sophomore, captured the 200 freestyle and swam on the victorious 200 freestyle relay and 400 freestyle relay. His brother Paul, a freshman, claimed the 50 freestyle and 100 breaststroke and was a member of the triumphant 200 medley relay.

Kyle Templton, Ryan Martin, Max McChesney and Nate Homan were double-winners for the J-Hawks.

Hummell & Hummell lead Jeff swimmers

DUBUQUE - Luke Hummell captured the 50 freestyle and Paul Hummell claimed the 100 breaststroke for Cedar Rapids Jefferson Tuesday night during a 107-62 loss to Dubuque Senior in a Mississippi Valley Conference swim meet in Dubuque.

The Hummells teamed with Austin Schmuecker and Nate Homan to win the 200 medley relay.

Hummell leads Jeff swimmers in CF

CEDAR FALLS - Paul Hummell placed second in the 100 yard breaststroke for the Jefferson J-Hawks Saturday at the Marcussen Invitational in Cedar Falls.

Dowling Catholic captured all 11 events and won the championship by a whopping margin with 630 points. Jefferson finished fourth out of six teams with 278 points.

Warriors swim past J-Hawks, 105-62

Jefferson got Washington's attention by claiming first and second in the first event of Thursday's dual meet at the J-Hawk pool.

And the Warriors came roaring back.

Jared Thorson and Nick Saulnier were quadruple winners, and Cameron Kelley was a triple winner in leading Washington to a 105-62 win.

Jefferson - Boys Swimming

Scallon leads J-Hawks past Grinnell

Lance Scallon was a quadruple winner and the Jefferson boys swim team cruised past Grinnell, 99-71, Tuesday at Jefferson.

Scallon won the 50 and 100 freestyle events, and swam on the winning 200 medley and free relays.

Jefferson freshman Nate Homan was a double-winner, capturing the 200 individual medley and 100 backstroke.

Freshman Max McChesney won the 200 free and senior Michael Munson the 100 breaststroke for the J-Hawks. Munson also swam on the medley and 200 free relays.
