J-Hawk tankers swamp Waterloo East

Jefferson senior Lance Scallon won four events and the J-Hawks swamped Waterloo East, 125-32, Tuesday night in a boys swimming meet at Jefferson.

Scallon won the 50-yard freestyle in 23.02 seconds and the 100 backstroke in 55.88. He also swam on the winning 200 medley relay and 200 free relay.

Jefferson's Luke Hummell was a triple-winner. He won the 100 free and swam on the medley and 200 free relays.

Waterloo East freshman Tyler Kamp won two events, the 200 individual medley and 100 breaststroke.

Jefferson won nine of 11 events.

Scallon claims 100 freestyle for J-Hawks

IOWA CITY -- Lance Scallon won the 100-yard freestyle race for the Cedar Rapids Jefferson J-Hawks at a Mississippi Valley Conference swimming meet against Iowa City High on Thursday.

He won the race in 50.54 seconds.

Scallon placed second in the 50 freestyle and helped the J-Hawks finish second in the 200 medley relay and 200 freestyle relay.

Iowa City High finished first in 10 of 11 races and won the meet, 113-54.

Scallon claims 2 wins for Jeff swimmers

WATERLOO -- Lance Scallon starred for the Jefferson swimming team Tuesday night by winning two individual races in a Mississippi Valley Conference meet against Waterloo West.

Scallon captured the 50 freestyle in 23.72 and claimed the 100 backstroke in 1:00.28. He finished with comfortable margins in both events.

Waterloo West claimed the rest of the races and won the meet, 119-43.

Scallon swims to lone Jeff win

Lance Scallon won the 100 backstroke to cllaim Jefferson's only win in a 129-39 loss to Dubuque Senior Tuesday night in a boys swimming meet at Jefferson.

Scallon also was second in the 50 freestyle.

Dubuque Senior won 10 of 11 events and claimed eight second-place finishes.

Jefferson's Zach Khorsand was second in the 200 and 500 free.

Scallon paces Jeff swimmers in Cedar Falls

CEDAR FALLS - Lance Scallon of Jefferson collected a pair of bronze medals Saturday at the Marcussen Invitational swimming meet in Cedar Falls.

Scallon placed third in the 50 freestyle and also finished third in the 100 backstroke. Max McChesney placed sixth in the 500 freestyle for the J-Hawks.

Jefferson finished fifth out of six teams in the meet. Dowling Catholic won the championship.
