Jenn Jenks breaks 4 swim records

It's a good thing Jennifer Jenks is not afraid of heights, because the Linn-Mar freshman had to make a steep climb at the Jefferson High School pool Tuesday night.

Jenks broke long-standing pool records in the 100 freestyle and 200 freestyle as Linn-Mar dunked the J-Hawks, 133-50, in a Mississippi Valley Conference meet.

She also broke the Linn-Mar school records in both events.

Drake, Chung make big splash at Jeff

Maybe it was a cloud of chlorine from the near-by Stoney Point YMCA that settled in their blood at an early age and turned Kelsey Drake and Jaylee Chung into swimming phenoms.

Multiple winners in every meet so far, each has been on only one losing relay team. Chung finished second in one individual race in the season opener. Drake has yet to be beaten.

Drake sets fly record in pair of routs

Freshman Kelsey Drake set a Jefferson school record in the 100 butterfly and won four events Tuesday to lead the J-Hawks to a pair of dual meet girls swimming wins at Jefferson.

The J-Hawks won all but one event and routed Williamsburg, 124.5-47.5, and Vinton-Shellsburg, 118-51.

Drake shattered the school mark in the butterfly by more than two seconds, churning to 57.14 clocking. The old mark of 59.33 was set by Whitney Gorsegner in 2006.

Drake also won the 50 freestyle and swam on the winning 200 and 400 free relays.
