Ritchie, Martin win events for J-Hawks

DUBUQUE - Emily Ritchie and Hannah Martin won individual events for Jefferson in a Mississippi Valley Conference swim meet against Dubuque Wahlert Tuesday night in Dubuque.

Ritchie captured the 50 yard freestyle and Martin claimed the diving title.

Wahlert won the meet, 118-66, by taking 10 of 12 events.

J-Hawks splash past Waterloo West

WATERLOO -Jefferson won only five of 12 events, but the J-Hawks' depth proved overwhelming in a girls swimming meet Tuesday night against Waterloo West.

Emily Ritchie was a triple winner and the J-Hawks won 104-79.

Ritchie won the 100 breaststroke and swam on the winning 200 and 400 freestyle relays.

Emily Howington won the 500 free and Hannah Martin the diving for Jefferson.

J-Hawks win 400 freestyle relay at home

The Linn-Mar High School swimming team won four events and finished second in the team standings at the J-Hawk Relays on Saturday at the Cedar Rapids Jefferson pool.

The Lions captured the diving, 200 freestyle relay, 300 medley relay and 300 breaststroke relay.

Mason City won five of the 10 relay events and claimed the team championship. The Jefferson J-Hawks won the 400 freestyle relay.

All the events were relays. There were no individual events.

Warriors swamp J-Hawk swimmers

Jackie Hughes and McKenzie Asplund won four events apiece and Washington swamped Jefferson, 122-64, Tuesday at the J-Hawk pool.

Jackie Allen and Maddie Dietz won three events apiece for the Warriors. Kaitlyn Nemickas won a pair of events.

Hughes won the 200 freestyle and 100 butterfly, and also swam on the winning medley relay and 200 free relay.

Asplund won the 200 individual medley and 100 breaststroke and swam on the medley and 400 free relays.

Allen won the 500 free and swam on the medley and 200 free relays.

Dietz won the 500 free and swam on the 200 and 400 free relays.

Nemickas won the 100 backstroke and led off the medley relay.

Jefferson won two events. Olivia Northrup won the 100 free and Hannah Martin claimed the diving.
