Jefferson swimmers sweep own relays

The Jefferson girls swimming team won all nine events and scored 140 points to win their own J-Hawk Relays on Saturday at Jefferson.Williamsburg was second with 58 points, and Keokuk was third with 46.

Team scores – 1. Jefferson 140, 2. Williamsburg 58, 3. Keokuk 46.

Diving – Jefferson 139.75.
400 medley relay – Jefferson 4:46.19.
600 freestyle relay – Jefferson 7:04.37.
200 freestyle relay – Jefferson 1:55.39.
300 backstroke relay – Jefferson 3:53.17.
300 medley relay – Jefferson 3:45.31.
300 breaststroke relay – Jefferson 4:01.06.
300 butterfly relay – Jefferson 3:40.88.
400 freestyle relay – Jefferson 4:19.31.

Chung, Thompson spark J-Hawk swimmers

WATERLOO - Jaylee Chung and Josie Thompson combined to help the Jefferson swimming team win six events Tuesday night in a double-dual victory over Waterloo and Vinton-Shellsburg.

Chung captured the 50 free and 100 free. Thompson took the 200 free and 100 butterfly. They also swam on the triumphant 200 medley relay and 400 freestyle relay.

Waterloo West and Waterloo East have joined forces for one girls swimming team this season.

Williams paces Kennedy by J-Hawks

Jessica Williams was a triple-winner Tuesday night as Kennedy topped Jefferson, 124-61, in a Mississippi Valley Conference swimming meet at Jefferson.

Williams won the 500 freestyle and swam on the triumphant 200 medley relay and 200 freestyle relay.

Maddie Bagby, Raquel Green, Alicia Miltner, Kassidy Lovig, MacKinzee Macho and Peyton Ross were double-winners for the Cougars. Macho captured the 100 fly and 100 back.

Jaylee Chung claimed the 50 free and 100 free for Jefferson.

Penning wins diving for J-Hawks

IOWA CITY - Anna Penning won the diving competition for the Jefferson J-Hawks in their Mississippi Valley Conference swimming meet against Iowa City West on Tuesday.

Iowa City West captured all of the swimming races and won the meet, 134-50.

Drake tops All-Metro swim team

Kelsey Drake of Linn-Mar has been named the Athlete of the Year on the All-Metro girls swim team.

Megan Lewis and her assistants at Washington High School were named the Coach of the Year.

Drake won gold medals in the 200 individual medley and 100 butterfly at the state swim meet in Marshalltown Saturday. She also helped Linn-Mar place third in the 400 freestyle relay and sixth in the 200 freestyle relay.

The All-Metro teams were based on times and points.
