Washington whips J-Hawks in boys tennis

Eddie Segarra beat Mitch Blades at No. 1 singles, but that was Jefferson's only highlight in an 7-1 loss to Washington on Thursday in boys tennis at Jefferson.

Washington played without two of its top three players. Blades moved up to No. 1 in place of Charlie Hammonds and Clayton Hoyt also did not play at No. 3.

Neel Ghosh and Zach Detweiler stepped in and posted wins.

The last match of the day was not completed because of rain.

Iowa City West blanks J-Hawks in boys tennis

Iowa City West dominated Jefferson in both singles and doubles and whipped the J-Hawks, 9-0, Tuesday in Mississippi Valley Conference tennis at Jefferson.

West features two sophomores and four freshmen in its lineup, but the Trojans have been dominant throughout the season.

The J-Hawks managed to win only 15 games in the meet.

J-Hawk boys blank Waterloo East

The Jefferson boys tennis team did not lose a single set Monday and shut out Waterloo East, 9-0, in a Mississippi Valley Conference tennis meet at Jefferson.

Eddie Segarra, Jacob Donald, Andrew Miller, Daniel Britton, David Shuman and Caleb Pfeil all won their singles matches in straight sets and won their doubles matches in straight sets.

J-Hawk boys split tennis meets at Dubuque

DUBUQUE -- Jefferson beat Dubuque Senior Friday afternoon but got drubbed by Dubuque Wahlert Saturday morning in a pair of Mississippi Valley Conference boys tennis meets.

The J-Hawks blanked Senior, 9-0.

Wahlert returned the favor, beating the J-Hawks, 9-0.
