Lindo is medalist, but City High wins meet

IOWA CITY -- Kennedy's Alli Lindo was medalist, but the Cougars were beaten by Iowa City High, 187-209, in a girls golf meet Monday at Pleasant Valley golf course.

IOWA CITY HIGH (187): Elizabeth Wheeler 43, Jordyn Theisen 46, Katherine van der Woude 50, Jamie Harris 50

Cougars 6th at Mississippi Division girls golf meet

DUBUQUE -- Dionna Jensen's 92 Monday led Linn-Mar to a second-place finish in the Mississippi Valley Conference Mississippi Division girls golf tournament at The Meadows.

Dubuque Wahlert won the tournament with a 362 that matched its total from a week ago at the the MVC Super Meet at Coralville's Brown Deer Golf Course. The total from each tournament was added together to decide the overall division champion. The Golden Eagles' 724 total was 47 shots better than second-place Linn-Mar.

Wahlert's Amy Ihm was medalist and Mississippi Division Athlete of the Year. She shot a 76 Monday and 155 overall that was 28 strokes better than teammate Lauren Gonner. Jensen was fifth, Rachel Thrune eighth and Emma Lorenz tied for ninth.

Kennedy finished sixth and Washington seventh.

Cougars 4th at Ellis meet

Megan Furnish shot a 38 to take medalist honors Thursday in a five-team girls golf meet at Ellis Park Golf Course.

Dubuque Wahlert won the team title with a 185. Linn-Mar was second at 191, Jefferson third at 194 and Kennedy fourth at 206.

Dionna Jensen shot a 46 to lead Linn-Mar. Ali Lindo's 47 paced Kennedy.

Kennedy 2nd at Waterloo meet

WATERLOO -- None of the Kennedy golfers broke 50 but the Cougars scored low enough to place second Thursday at the Waterloo East quad girls golf meet at Gates Park.

Dubuque Senior, paced by medalist Jordyn Engelken's 46, won the meet with a 207 that was nine strokes better than the Cougars. Hempstead was third and East did not have enough golfers to field a full team.

Sadie Schultz led Kennedy with a 52.
