Kennedy swimmers blanked by Rams

DUBUQUE -- The Dubuque Senior Rams won all 11 races Tuesday and dunked Cedar Rapids Kennedy, 110-60, in a Mississippi Valley Conference boys swimming meet in Dubuque.

Stefan Kitsos finished second for the Cougars in the 200 IM and 100 breaststroke. Chandler Heisler placed second in the 50 freestyle and 100 freestyle.

Dylan Casey (200 freestyle) and Brennan Urbi (100 backstroke) also finished second for Kennedy.

Moore, Richardson pace Kennedy swimmers

WATERLOO -- Harrison Moore and John Richardson won three events Thursday night as Cedar Rapids Kennedy defeated Waterloo East and Decorah in a double-dual swimming meet in Waterloo.

Moore won the 200 freestyle and swam on the triumphant 200 freestyle relay and 400 freestyle relay. Richardson captured the 50 freestyle and 100 breaststroke and swam on the victorious 200 freestyle relay.

Dylan Casey, Andy Hanson and Chandler Heisler were double winners for the Cougars.

Kennedy - Boys Swimming

Kennedy swimmers take 2nd at Marshalltown

MARSHALLTOWN - The Kennedy Cougars won two events and placed second in the team standings at the Bobcat Invitational swimming meet Saturday in Marshalltown.

Chandler Heisler participated in both victories for Kennedy. He teamed with Stefan Kitsos to win the 400 medley relay, and he joined Dylan Casey, John Richardson and Brennan Urbi on the victorious 400 freestyle relay.

All of the events in the meet were relays. Some of them were two-man relays and some were four-man relays.

West Des Moines Valley won the four-team invitational.

Kennedy - Boys Swimming

Kennedy capsized by Iowa City West

Kennedy's John Richardson was a double winner Tuesday night in the Cougars' 96-74 loss to Iowa City West in a boys swimming meet at the Kennedy pool.

Kennedy won three events. Richardson won the 100 backstroke and swam a leg on the Cougars' winning 200 medley relay.

Kennedy's Chandler Heisler won the 100 butterfly for the Cougars' other victory.

Iowa City West freshman Mark McGlaughlin recorded torrid early season times in the 200 free (1:46.42) and 500 free (4:53.06). He and fellow frosh Aidan Keen were quadruple winners.

Swimmers enjoy unusual J-Hawk Relays

Dylan Casey of Kennedy swam 100 yards Saturday with his eye goggles around his nose, but was able to laugh about it later.

For one thing, the Cougars set a record in the 300-yard backstroke relay with Casey swimming the anchor leg. And for another, the annual J-Hawk Relays are a fun meet with a variety of different events that you don't see anywhere else.

"It's a fun event to come to," said Casey. "It's a lot less stress. You can enjoy yourself while you're swimming. If you drop times, it's great. It you don't, it's no big deal."
