Lions top Clinton in 9 innings

CLINTON - The Linn-Mar Lions scored four runs in the top of the ninth inning and defeated Clinton, 5-1, in a prep baseball game in Clinton Wednesday night.

Taylor Yoke and Andrew Gassmann combined to pitch a three-hitter for Linn-Mar. Yoke tossed 6.2 innings and allowed only one hit and one unearned run. Gassman pitched the final 2.1 innings and allowed two hits.

Manny Jeffery went 2-for-5 for the Lions and had two stolen bases.

Lions split with No.7 IC West

IOWA CITY - The Linn-Mar Lions split a Mississippi Valley Conference doubleheader with No.7 Iowa City West in Iowa City Monday night.

Iowa City West won the first game, 5-2.

Linn-Mar took the nightcap, 8-4. Ben Larson drove in two runs for the Lions in the victory. Manny Jeffery and Austin McCulloh had two hits.

Larson pitched 6.2 innings for the victory. Ryan Wyant got the final out.

Jacobs helps Lions top PV

Jackson Jacobs collected five RBIs Saturday as the Linn-Mar Lions rallied for an 8-7 victory over Pleasant Valley in a prep baseball game at the Linn-Mar complex.

The second game of the scheduled doubleheader was rained out.

The first game was tied, 5-5, after seven innings. Pleasant Valley scored twice in the top of the eighth for a 7-5 lead, but Linn-Mar rallied for three runs in the bottom of the eighth for the 8-7 victory.

Jacobs went 3-for-5 with five RBIs. Manny Jeffery was 3-for-4 witih two runs and two RBIs. Adam Stolley was 2-for-4 with two runs. Ben Larson also scored twice.

Andrew Gassman picked up the victory in relief.

Linn-Mar belted twice by Rams

DUBUQUE - Dubuque Senior scored 21 runs Friday and swept a Mississippi Valley Conference baseball doubleheader from Linn-Mar, 12-2 and 9-1, in Dubuque.

All-state catcher Brandt Ollinger did not play in either game for the Lions.

Linn-Mar collected only nine hits in the twinbill. Andrew Gassman had two hits in the second game.

Keller fans 10, Saints sweep Lions

Mitch Keller struck out 10 batters in four innings Monday as the Xavier Saints topped Linn-Mar, 5-3, in the first game of a Mississippi Valley Conference doubleheader at Linn-Mar.

The Saints also won the second game, 12-4.

Keller (1-1) walked three batters, allowed two hits and one unearned run. Bryce Grimm pitched the final three innings for Xavier.

Nolan Arp went 2-for-2 with two RBIs for the Saints. Grimm also had two hits. Manny Jeffery went 3-for-4 for Linn-Mar and scored twice.

Grimm went 3-for-5 for Xavier in the second game with a triple, home run and three RBIs. Logan Clarahan scored three runs. Ryan Flaherty drove in two runs and Max Hammerberg had two hits.

Adam Bradley went 3-for-4 with three doubles and three RBIs for Linn-Mar in the nightcap. Brandt Ollinger had two hits.

Adam Pick struck out nine batters in 3.2 innings for the Saints, but also walked six batters in the second game.
