Printy enjoys return to Washington

Everybody knew about it, but nothing was said.

Linn-Mar's basketball game Thursday night at Washington marked the return of Jared Printy to the gym where he played the first three years of his prep career.

Printy transferred to Linn-Mar for his senior season and everybody in the Lions' camp knew the atmosphere would be more charged than usual when the two teams met.

"We didn't talk about it at all," Linn-Mar coach Chris Robertson said. "He knew, but we didn't talk about it."

After a bit of a slow start, Printy had a successful homecoming. He scored 18 points, including three 3-point baskets in the third quarter, helping the Lions to a 69-49 win.

"I knew it was going to be crazy intense," Printy said. "I didn't think I could possibly be unprepared for it, but it was intense out there. Both teams played so hard and it was a really fun game to be a part of."

Lions senior Jordan Bohannon, who led all scorers with 22 points, thought his teammate handled the situation well.

Bohannon nets 1,000, but Lions struggle

Jordan Bohannon joined his three older brothers in the 1,000 point club at Linn-Mar High School on Tuesday night, but the Lions struggled and there was no reason to celebrate the milestone.

The Waukee Warriors opened a 22-point lead in the fourth quarter and dumped Linn-Mar, 63-52, in the season opener at Linn-Mar.

Bohannon scored 12 points and raised his career total to 1,010, but he netted only two points in the second half (both on free throws) and was called for a technical foul when he slammed the ball to the floor when a call went against the Lions.

"That was totally my bad," he said contritely. "I was frustrated."

Jason Bohannon, who was Iowa's Mr. Basketball in 2006, poured in 1,679 points during his career at Linn-Mar. Matt Bohannon, now starring at Northern Iowa, collected 1,065 points with the Lions. And Zach Bohannon scored 1,033 points at Linn-Mar.

All told, the four Bohannons have scored 4,787 points for the Lions.
