A new Mid-Am men's golf event will be held at Ellis Park in Cedar Rapids Saturday and Sunday.
The winner will automatically qualify for the Cedar Rapids Ryder Cup team, if he is from Cedar Rapids.
There will be an open and senior division, with 18 holes Saturday and 18 holes Sunday.

SCOTT SCHEBLER (CR Prairie), Oklahoma City, OF, Triple-A, Pacific Coast League (Dodgers): Oklahoma City was idle Wednesday. Schebler is hitting .219 (39-for-178) with seven home runs and 16 RBIs.
CHAD CHRISTENSEN (CR Washington), Fort Myers, OF, High-A, Florida State League (Twins): Christensen went 2-for-2 with a double, run scored and RBI in a 4-0 victory over Lakeland. He played center field and hit seventh in the lineup. Christensen is batting .280 (53-for-189) with two home runs and 18 RBIs.
JON KELLER (CR Xavier), Frederick, P, High-A, Carolina League (Orioles): Keller did not pitch in a 9-6 loss to Myrtle Beach Wednesday. He has a 3-4 record, 3.86 ERA and three saves.

The Metro Sports Report provides regular updates on all the Metro graduates in pro baseball. Here is the report through Wednesday:
SCOTT SCHEBLER (CR Prairie), Oklahoma City, OF, Triple-A, Pacific Coast League (Dodgers): Schebler went 1-for-4 in a 6-2 loss to Salt Lake on Wednesday. He hit eighth in the lineup and placed center field. Schebler is hitting .218 (32-for-147) with six homers and 14 RBIs.
CHAD CHRISTENSEN (CR Washington), Fort Myers, OF, High-A, Florida State League (Twins): Christensen went 2-for-5 and belted a solo home run in a 6-5 victory over Clearwater on Wednesday. He hit fourth in the lineup and played right field. Christensen is batting .295 (43-for-146) with two homers and 13 RBIs.
JON KELLER (CR Xavier), Frederick, P, High-A, Carolina League (Orioles): Keller did not pitch in a 5-4 loss to Salem on Wednesday. He has a 2-3 record, 4.03 ERA and two saves.

The Kennedy Cougars have been ranked No. 1 in the first Class 4A baseball poll for the 2015 season by the Iowa Baseball Coaches Association.
Kennedy finished 31-7 last year and reached the quarterfinals of the state tournament.
The Jefferson J-Hawks are ranked No. 9 in Class 4A. The J-Hawks and Cougars are scheduled to meet in the championship game of the Metro Tournament Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the Washington High School field.
The Xavier Saints are ranked No. 7 in Class 3A.

He hit eighth in the lineup and played center field. Schebler is hitting .217 (31-for-143) with six home runs and 14 RBIs.
CHAD CHRISTENSEN (CR Washington), Fort Myers, OF, High-A, Florida State League (Twins): Fort Myers was postponed by rain Tuesday against Clearwater. Christensen is hitting .291 with one homer and 12 RBIs.
