Bohannon leads No. 6 Lions by Rams

Jordan Bohannon scored 18 points Tuesday night and led the sixth-ranked Linn-Mar boys basketball team in a 71-60 win over Dubuque Senior in a Mississippi Valley Conference game at Linn-Mar.

Bohannon popped in three 3-pointers, giving him 202 in his career and making him only the third player in Metro history with more than 200 3-pointers. Jason Bohannon is the Metro leader with 230 triples for Linn-Mar from 2004-2006 and Josh Kimm of Prairie is second with 206 from 1996-1998.

Beau Klostermann had 15 points for the Lions (7-2). Jordan Brandt scored 14 and Jared Printy added 12.

Ollinger leads Lions by Indians

Amanda Ollinger scored 19 points and grabbed 13 rebounds Saturday night as the Linn-Mar Lions defeated the Marion Indians, 39-30, in the final game of the Rivalry Saturday series at the U.S. Cellular Center.

Ollinger shot only 5 for 25 from the field for 20 percent, but she gave the Lions (7-3) enough offense to win the game. She was 8 for 10 at the foul line and was 1 for 7 on 3-pointers in the low-scoring affair.

Chloe Rice scored 11 points for Marion (7-4).

Both teams shot very poorly from the field. Linn-Mar was 8 for 55 for 14.5 percent and Marion was 9 for 47 for 19.1 percent.

Ollinger made five field goals for Linn-Mar and three other players had one basket apiece. The Lions scored 20 of their 39 points at the foul line.

Clinton matmen win Linn-Mar Duals

Clinton defeated Western Dubuque, 39-28, in the championship match of the Linn-Mar Duals wrestling tournament Saturday.

Clinton and Western Dubuque finished 4-0 in their pool matches before colliding for the title in the 10-team event.

Linn-Mar topped Ankeny Centennial for fifth place, 45-24. Xavier lost to Keokuk, 39-36, in the match for seventh place. Marion downed Columbus Catholic, 63-16, to claim ninth place.

Peng leads L-M swimmers at own meet

Matt Peng captured a pair of third-place finishes to lead the Linn-Mar swimming team at its own invitational Saturday at the Linn-Mar Aquatic Center.

Peng placed third in the 50 free (22.63) and the 100 butterfly (55.20).

Iowa City West won eight events and nipped Dowling for the title, 430-425. Linn-Mar finished fifth out of eight teams.

Johnson, Williams lead Lions by Wahlert

The Linn-Mar boys bowling team beat Dubuque Wahlert 2,953 pins to 2,559 Friday at home.

Alex Johnson rolled a 265 game for the Lions and Nathan Williams had a 449 series.
