Red-hot Robe sets school record in rout

Linn-Mar's Dreyson Robe was atomic hot on the Cedar Rapids Bowl lanes Friday, firing games of 269 and 279 for a school-record series of 548 in the Lions' 3402-2485 whipping of Prairie in boys bowling.

Robe's series topped the old mark of 547 set by Robert Wyant.

Justin Wyant fired games of 231 and 277 for a 508 series for the Lions.

Prairie girls rally past Linn-Mar bowlers

Prairie rallied from a 44-pin deficit and toppled Linn-Mar, 2639-2635, Friday in girls bowling at Cedar Rapids Bowl.

Rylee Blood fired a 255 high game and 432 series for Prairie.

Brooke McMorran shot a 405 series in the first round for Linn-Mar that helped the Lions build their lead.

Meier leads Kennedy girls past Linn-Mar

Both schools in this rivalry were wrapping up their regular season Mississippi Valley Conference action in the game at the Cougar gym and it was Cedar Rapids Kennedy finishing the conference action on a high note with a 58-51 victory over Linn-Mar on Senior Night.  The leading scorer of the contest for Kennedy was Madison Meier with 15 points and Paige Hendrickson chipped in with 14 leading the Cougars.

Kennedy, a member of the Mississippi Division held on to third place for sure with a 9-4 record in conference play and finished behind the two Iowa City schools in the standings.  Kennedy has a non-conference encounter Saturday against Marion in the Cougar gym to finish out the regular season before beginning Class 5A tournaments with a matchup next Wednesday against Jefferson at Kennedy.

Linn-Mar whips Clinton in regionals

Linn-Mar survived an upset of Alijah Jeffery at 120 pounds and squashed Clinton, 48-12, Wednesday night in Class 3A regional dual meet tournament wrestling.

Linn-Mar (26-7) advances to the state dual meet tournament next Wednesday at the Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines. The No.5 Lions will face No.4 Waverly-Shell Rock (20-2) in the first round at 9 a.m. No.1 Southeast Polk (26-0) or No.8 Pleasant Valley (25-10) awaits in the next round. The other qualifiers are Prairie (31-2), West Des Moines Dowling (15-2), Bettendorf (9-1) and Ankeny (29-1).

Clinton (12-3) picked up wins from Jake Oldaker at 285 pounds in the first match of the evening. The River Kings, ranked No.10, also got wins from Hunter Genco (120) and Nick Hatheway (170).

Genco pulled off the stunner of the night when he knocked off the top-ranked Jeffery, 6-4. Genco is ranked No.5.

6 Linn-Mar athletes sign LOIs

Six Linn-Mar athletes signed letters of intent with colleges Wednesday.

The six are Jimmy Roth, Sara Strauel, Austin Stroschein, Jack Strellner, Justin Wyant and Mitch Stickney.

Roth will play basketball at Upper Iowa.
