Prairie, Linn-Mar grapplers roll in Waterloo

WATERLOO -- Andrew Netolicky delivered in the clutch for the Cedar Rapids Prairie wrestling team Friday at the Battle of Waterloo.

Netolicky pinned Sean Lord of Waverly-Shell Rock in 1:04 in the final match of the Pool B finals to give Prairie a 32-28 victory over No.5 Waverly-Shell Rock.

The fourth-ranked Hawks advanced to the championship round on Saturday in the 32-team tournament along with Linn-Mar, West Delaware and Davenport Assumption. Those four teams will meet in a round robin to determine a champion.

The Linn-Mar Lions cruised through Pool C with three lopsided victories on Friday.

The championship round will begin at 4 p.m. Saturday with Prairie facing West Delaware and Linn-Mar meeting Davenport Assumption. The next round will begin at 6 p.m. with Linn-Mar facing West Delaware and Prairie meeting Assumption. The final round is scheduled for 8 p.m. with Prairie wrestling Linn-Mar and West Delaware facing Assumption.

Bohannon leads Lions by Waterloo East

Freshman Jordan Bohannon led a balanced attack with 12 points Friday night as the Linn-Mar Lions defeated Waterloo East, 62-30, in a Mississippi Valley Conference game at Linn-Mar.

Jon Schlotterback and Jimmy Roth scored nine points apiece for Linn-Mar.

Linn-Mar grapplers dump I.C. West

IOWA CITY -- Noah Ajram, Alijah Jeffery, Joel Northrup and Andrew Holladay had two pins Thursday night as Linn-Mar defeated Iowa City West and Dubuque Wahlert in a Mississippi Valley Conference double-dual in Iowa City.

Linn-Mar dumped Iowa City West, 47-20, and overwhelmed Wahlert 66-6.

Ross Lembeck and Dakota Digmann each had a pin and a major decision for the Lions. John Clymer, subbing for injured Matt Wempen at 113 pounds, won both of his matches by decision.

Linn-Mar boys drop 4th straight

DUBUQUE - The Linn-Mar Lions lost their fourth straight game Tuesday night ith a 65-50 setback at No. 2 Dubuque Senior.

Matt Lassen scored 16 points for the Lions (1-4, 0-2). Jimmy Roth played his first game for Linn-Mar after serving a four-game suspension and scored 11 points.

Major scores 16 as Lions beat Rams

Courtney Major scored 16 points and Linn-Mar held Dubuque Senior to 12 points in the second half and beat the Rams, 58-37, Tuesday night in girls basketball at Linn-Mar.

Major knocked down four 3-pointers. Sara Strauel scored 11 points and Mykaela Brandt added 10 for Linn-Mar (3-5, 2-2 MVC).

Linn-Mar held a 27-25 lead at halftime. The Lions outscored the Rams 20-10 in the third quarter, and 11-2 in the fourth.

Linn-Mar also made 18 of 23 free throws.
