Glueck's 512 series sends Lions past Prairie

Raymond Glueck was on fire Friday, rolling back-to-back games of 256 for a 512 series that led Linn-Mar to a 3229-2925 win over Prairie in boys bowling at Lancer Lanes.

Seth Tegtmeier shot high game of 267 for Linn-Mar and had a 464 series. Connor Pickering had a 427 series and Colby Frye 412.

Andrew Galloro shot high game f 256 and high series of 469 for Prairie. Walker Hunt had a 402 series.

Uhlir leads Lions past Cougars, 73-65

Close games are nothing new for Linn-Mar.

The Lions have had their share of contests this season decided in the final minutes. Lately those swing games have gone against the Lions.

Junior guard Nic Uhlir would have none of that in Friday night’s showdown against Mississippi Valley Conference rival Cedar Rapids Kennedy.

The 6-foot sharpshooter was fouled as he nailed the last of his four 3-point baskets with just over a minute to play. He converted the foul shot to give the Lions a six-point lead and they went on to a hard-fought 73-65 road win over the Cougars.

Davis leads Linn-Mar girls past Prairie bowlers

Emma Davis had the hot hand for Linn-Mar Friday, rolling a 218 game and 386 series that led the Lions by Prairie, 2709-2660, in girls bowling at Lancer Lanes.

Brooke McMorran had a 375 series for Linn-Mar.

Ashley Grady rolled a 208 high game and 356 series to lead Prairie.

Linn-Mar tops Kennedy in OT, 67-63

The Sommer twins proved to be too much for the Kennedy Cougars Thursday.

Katie Sommer and Kristie Sommer combined for 42 points as Linn-Mar rallied from a 17-point halftime deficit to defeat the sliding ninth-ranked Cougars, 67-63, in overtime at Linn-Mar.

Kennedy (14-7, 8-5) led 35-18 at intermission. Morgan Martin led the way with 18 first-half points and a defense that allowed the Lions only three points in the second period.

Linn-Mar decks Dowling in regional mats

Alijah Jeffery and Ross Lembeck highlighted a seven-pin performance by Linn-Mar wrestlers and the Lions routed Dowling Catholic, 53-18, Wednesday night in a Class 3A regional meet at Linn-Mar.

Linn-Mar (22-6) qualified for the state dual meet tournament next Wednesday (Feb. 19) at the Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines.

The Lions are seeded fifth and will meet fourth-seeded Prairie (20-3) in the quarterfinals at 9 a.m.

Jeffery pinned his Dowling foe in 34 seconds at 120 pounds and Lembeck recorded a 35-second fall at 152.
