Tegtmeier's 472 series leads Lions past Kennedy

Seth Tegtmeier had the hot hand Friday for Linn-Mar rolling games of 263 and 209 for a 472 series that propelled the Lions past Kennedy, 2990-2738, in boys bowling at Cedar Rapids Bowl.

Sam Moody had a 239 game and 407 series for Linn-Mar.

Alec White shot a 256 high game and 459 series to lead Kennedy. Davis Sutton had a 405 series.

Lembeck brothers help Lions, Saints

You'll have to excuse the Lembeck brothers if they rooted against their own teammates a little bit Thursday night.

Ross Lembeck wrestles for Linn-Mar and his brother, Clint, competes for Xavier, and their teams faced each other in a Mississippi Valley Conference meet at Xavier.

Ross Lembeck, a senior who is ranked No.1 at 152 pounds for the Lions, returned from a knee injury and pinned his opponent. Clint Lembeck, a sophomore who is ranked No.4 at 132 pounds for the Saints, defeated sixth-ranked Matt Wempen, 5-1.

Linn-Mar won the meet, 43-18.

Evans, Jeffery, Wolter ready to sign

Three Linn-Mar athletes will sign their national letters-of-intent on Wednesday, Feb. 12 during a ceremony in the school's media center at 3:45 p.m.

Josh Evans will sign to run track and cross country at Iowa State, Alijah Jeffery plans to wrestle at Northern Illinois and Austin Wolter will play football at Minnesota State.

Evans is one of the premier distance runners in the state with major victories at the Drake Relays, state track meet and state cross country meet.

Jeffery is ranked No.1 at 120 pounds at Class 3A and is a state placewinner. Wolter made 34 of 35 PATs and hit two field goals as Linn-Mar's placekicker last season.

   

Uhlir nets 30 as Lions top Cougars

Linn-Mar High School has featured some outstanding 3-point shooters in recent years with Jason Bohannon and Marcus Paige topping the list.

Nic Uhlir is making a serious bid to join them.

Uhlir popped in a career-best seven 3-pointers Tuesday night and poured in 30 points as the Lions clipped No.10 Kennedy, 70-64, in a Mississippi Valley Conference battle at Linn-Mar.

Linn-Mar girls escape Hempstead, 49-48

DUBUQUE - Kristie Sommer scored 16 points to help Linn-Mar escape Dubuque Hempstead, 49-48, Tuesday night in an MVC girls basketball game at Hempstead.

Katie Sommer and Nikita Sharma added nine points apiece for Linn-Mar (11-8, 6-4).

Ashley Dolan had 14 points and Hope Koerperich 12 for Hempstead (10-7, 6-5).
