Marion wrestlers split double dual

The Marion High School wrestling team split a double-dual Tuesday night at Marion.

The Indians topped Cedar Rapids Washington, 45-24, and lost to Mount Vernon, 42-30.

Trey Clifton (138) and Colin Conway (152) won both of their matches for Marion. Caleb Conway (145) went 2-0 with a pin and a forfeit.

Smith paces Marion against Bobcats

FARLEY – Bre Smith topped all scorers with a 438 series to lead the Marion girls bowling team, but the Indians lost to Western Dubuque 2,770 pins to 2,065 Tuesday at Cobra Lanes.

Smith rolled a 224 game for Marion.

Emily Benn had a 410 series for Western Dubuque.

WESTERN DUBUQUE: Emily Benn 193-217=410, Kayla Horsfield 203-190=393, Brooke Kluesner 204-173=377, Myra Steffen 195-175=370, Miriah Kluesner 183-169=351, Britney Neyen 168-154=322.

Nash leads Marion against Western Dubuque

FARLEY – The Marion boys bowling team fell to Western Dubuque 2,888 pins to 2,668 Thursday at Cobra Lanes.

Dylan Nash had a 243 game and a 433 series to lead the Indians. Adam Simon rolled a 459 series for Western Dubuque.

Marion boys drop opener to Maquoketa

MAQUOKETA – Baylor Fish scored 17 points to lead the Marion boys basketball team in a 72-59 loss to Maquoketa to open the season Tuesday.

Chase Zielke added 12 points for the Indians.

Jon Ernst led Maquoketa with 23 points.

Laube paces Marion girls by Maquoketa

Mia Laube led the Marion girls basketball team to a 48-29 win over Maquoketa on Tuesday with a game-high 17 points in the Marion gym.

The Indians jumped to an 11-0 lead in the first quarter and cruised to the victory.

Chloe Rice added 11 points for Marion.
