Lions take 2nd at Prairie golf

Lauren Coughlin and Teresa Lopez Moreno helped the Linn-Mar Lions finish in second place at the Prairie Invitational golf tournament at Airport National Thursday.

Coughlin shot a 14-over-par 77 to place fourth in the individual standings. Lopez Moreno finished with a 15-over 78.

Kate Coyle of Cascade took medalist honors with a 74.

Iowa City West won the team title at 309, followed by Linn-Mar (323) and Prairie (345). Marion placed eighth out of nine teams.

Emily Machula led Prairie with an 81. Taylor Wade and Ashley Ohl topped Marion with 88's.

Kelly fires 74 for Marion Indians

Ian Kelly of Marion High School fired a 2-over-par 74 Wednesday to claim medalist honors in a triangular meet at the Gardner Golf Course.

Williamsburg won the meet at 329, followed by Marion (341) and Vinton-Shellsburg (357).

MARION: Ian Kelly 74, Jeremy Schnieders 82, Daly Quinn 92, Mitch Kack 93, John Carstensen 93, Chaz Vasser 101.

 

Duval lifts No. 13 Marion with 3 goals

EPWORTH - Enoch Duval scored all three goals as the 13th-ranked Marion Indians trimmed Western Dubuque, 3-2, in double overtime Tuesday in a Wamac Conference soccer match in Epworth.

Noah Smith, Carter Stigge and Daniel Tribble collected the assists for Marion.

Duval holds the career scoring record for Marion, which dropped one notch from No.12 to No.13 in the Class 2A rankings this week.

 

   

Lions now 3rd in boys soccer poll

The Linn-Mar Lions have climbed one spot to No. 3 in the Class 3A boys soccer rankings, the Iowa High School Soccer Coaches Association announced Tuesday.

Six Metro teams are ranked again this week.

Washington is ranked No. 5, Kennedy is No.6 and Prairie is No. 14 in the Class 3A poll. Xavier is ranked No.4 and Marion is ranked No. 13 in Class 2A.

Iowa City West is ranked No .1 in Class 3A and Norwalk is No. 1 in Class 2A.

Schnieders, Quinn lead Marion at Wamac

MANCHESTER - Jeremy Schnieders and Daly Quinn both shot 13-over-par 84's Monday as the Marion Indians placed ninth at the Wamac Conference Super Meet at the Pin Oak Golf Course in Manchester.

West Delaware won the meet. Bryce Frick of West Delaware was the medalist with a 73.
