Brase wins 400 hurdles for Marion

Sydney Brase of Marion High School captured the 400 meter hurdles at the Marion Invitational Thursday at Thomas Park.

Brase was timed in 1 minute, 10.55 seconds. She also placed third in the 100 hurdles (16.99).

Abby Kolarik of Marion finished third in the 200 meter dash (28.84) and Breanna Smith was third in the shot put(34-3). The Indians also placed third in the 4x800 relay (11:13.06).

West Delaware won the meet with 112 points. Marion tied North Linn for fifth place with 54 points in the 11-team field.

Kelly, Schneiders lead Marion golfers

MAQUOKETA - Ian Kelly and Jeremy Schneiders shot 12-over-par 82's Wednesday to lead the Marion Indians at the Maquoketa Invitational at the Maquoketa Country Club.

The Indians finished sixth out of eight teams.

West Delaware and Mount Vernon tied for the title at 315.

Marion boys pop into soccer rankings

The Marion Indians jumped into the boys soccer rankings Wednesday as the No.12 team in Class 2A, according to the Iowa High School Soccer Coaches Association.

This is the first time Marion has been ranked all year.

The Metro area now has six teams in the rankings.

The Class 3A rankings show Kennedy at No. 4, Linn-Mar at No. 5, Washington at No.6 and Prairie at No. 11.

The Class 2A rankings have Xavier at No. 4 and Marion at No. 12.

Brown wins shot put at Vinton

VINTON - Mahlia Brown of Marion High School won the shot at the Vikette Invitational in Vinton Tuesday.

The Indians also captured the shuttle hurdle relay.

Marion got second-place showings from Sydney Brase in the 100 hurdles and 400 hurdles and from Olivia Frazier in the high jump. The Indians also placed second in the distance medley.

Waterloo East edged Vinton-Shellsburg for the title, 140-139. Marion placed fourth out of seven teams.

 

Marion boys bounce South Tama

TAMA - Aaron Smith defeated Mike Cahow at No.1 singles, 10-2, Tuesday as the Marion Indians blanked South Tama 6-0 in a Wamac Conference tennis meet in

Tama.The doubles matches were rained out.

Marion captured its fourth dual meet of the season.
