Enoch Duval wins Metro Spotlight Award

Marion junior Enoch Duval is the winner of the Metro Spotlight Award for high school boys this week, the Metro Sports Report announced Sunday.

Duval is the leading scorer for the Marion High School soccer team this season with eight goals and three assists in five games. The Indians have a 4-1 record so far.

Duval is part of the Marion Home School Program.

Brown wins shot put for Marion girls

EPWORTH —  Mahlia Brown of Marion High School captured the shot put with a toss of 35 feet, 11 1/2 inches at the Bobcat Relays in Epworth on Thursday night.

Brown also finished third in the discus for the Indians (95-4). Marion also got third-place showings from Olivia Frazier in the high jump (4-8) and Sydney Brase in the 100 hurdles (17.29).

The Indians placed second in the distance medley.

Marion boys boot Williamsburg, 3-1

WILLIAMSBURG —  Enoch Duval, Carter Stigge and Daniel Tribble scored goals Thursday as Marion tripped Williamsburg, 3-1, in a boys soccer match in Williamsburg.

Marion girls blank Williamsburg, 1-0

The Marion girls soccer team beat previously unbeaten Williamsburg, 1-0, in a Wamac Conference meet in Marion on Thursday.

Holli Jones was the lone goal scorer and was assisted on the goal by Maddie Bach. Abby Phillips had five saves and recorded her second consecutive clean sheet.

Marion girls give Vinton the boot

VINTON - Haley Clifton and Amanda Sahm scored goals Tuesday as the Marion Indians blanked Vinton-Shellsburg, 2-0, in a Wamac Conference soccer game in Vinton.

Sheala Rael collected the assist on Clifton's goal.

The backline of Ashley Iehl, Erica Kelly and Morgan Swanger held Vinton-Shellsburg to only one shot in the first half. Abby Phillips made six saves in the game.
