Conway, Van Meter lead Marion wrestlers

WILLIAMSBURG - Colin Conway and Kyle Van Meter claimed second-place honors for the Marion Indians at the Williamsburg Invitational wrestling tournament Saturday.

Conway compiled a 4-1 record at 138 pounds with three pins. Van Meter placed second at 285 pounds.

Williamsburg won the tournament with 194 points. Marion finished fourth out of six teams with 88 points.

Caleb Conway (132) and Dalton Gardner (195) placed third for the Indians.

TEAM STANDINGS
1. Williamsburg 194, 2. Grinnell 175, 3. Mount Pleasant 105, 4. Marion 88, 5. Pella 82, 6. Perry 67.

 

Marion nipped by DeWitt, 51-50

Kyle Bauer scored 21 points Friday night as DeWitt Central edged Marion, 51-50, in a Wamac Conference basketball game at Marion.

Daly Quinn popped in 20 points for Marion (6-8, 5-7) before fouling out.

Whitney leads Indians past Sabers, 43-35

DE WITT - Marissa Whitney scored 13 points and Amanda Sahm added 10 to lead Marion past DeWitt Central, 43-35, Friday in Wamac girls basketball.

Michalyn Mohr added nine points for the Indians.

MARION (43): Peyton 1 0-2 2, Sahm 4 2-4 10, Dunne 0 0-0 0, Fuller 0 0-0 0, Jones 1 0-0 2, Whitney 4 2-2 13, Jordan 1 2-4 5, Frazier 0 2-2 2, Mohr 4 1-2 9. Totals 15 9-16 43.

   

Marion matmen mauled by Mount Vernon

MOUNT VERNON - Colin Conway and Kyle Van Meter had pins for Marion, but the Indians were throttled by Mount Vernon, 63-15, Thursday night in Wamac wrestling.

Dalton Gardner also won by decision for the Indians.

Conway, Gardner lead Marion wrestlers

Colin Conway collected two pins for the Marion Indians Tuesday night in their Wamac Conference wrestling meets with Center Point-Urbana and Vinton-Shellsburg at Marion.

Dalton Gardner registered a pin and a decision for the Indians.

Marion lost to Center Point-Urbana, 56-21, and fell to Vinton-Shellsburg, 54-24.
