Marion boys nipped by Vikings, 55-53

The Marion Indians saw their 10-point halftime lead slip away Friday night and lost to Vinton-Shellsburg, 55-53, in a Wamac Conference boys basketball game at Marion.

The Indians (4-7, 3-6) had a 49-45 lead in the fourth quarter, but the Vikings finished the game with a 10-4 spurt for the victory.

Craig Engle led Marion with 19 points. Daly Quinn scored 16.

Nolan Sagan paced Vinton-Shellsburg with 18 points.

VINTON-SHELLSBURG (55): Bohnsack 1 0-0 3, Dinderman 1 0-0 3, Meyer 4 0-0 10, Overton 2 1-3 5, Rippel 1 0-0 3, Spies 6 1-3 13, Moen 0 0-0 0, Sagan 8 2-5 18. Totals 23 4-11 55.

Marion boys knock off Beckman

DYERSVILLE - Daly Quinn scored 19 points Tuesday night as the Marion Indians picked up a Wamac Conference road victory with a 58-51 triumph over Dyersville Beckman.

Quinn Cannoy contributed 12 points and Jacob Manderscheid netted 10 for Marion (4-6, 3-5).

Josh Gehling paced Beckman with 13 points.

Klostermans KO Marion girls, 45-41

Michalyn Mohr scored 20 points, but the rest of her Marion teammates were held to 21 and the Indians were beaten by Dyersville Beckman, 45-41, Tuesday in a Wamac Conference game at Marion.

Marion (2-9, 2-6 Wamac) was held to three points over the final six minutes of the first half and fell behind, 24-11.

The Indians fought back to within four points with five minutes left in the game, but could not complete the comeback.

Beckman's Blair Klosterman scored 25 points and Brooke Klosterman added 16.

Western Dubuque downs Marion girls

EPWORTH - Zoey Weber and Megan Maahs topped a balanced attack with 12 points apiece Saturday as Western Dubuque bounced Marion, 58-35, in a Wamac Conference girls basketball game in Epworth.

Amanda Sahm scored 12 points and Michalyn Mohr added 11 for Marion (2-8).

Western Dubuque raised its record to 9-1.

Indians dunked by Western Dubuque

Spencer Haldeman poured in 28 points Saturday night as Western Dubuque defeated Marion, 67-45, in a Wamac Conference basketball game at Marion.

Cole Otting scored 15 points for the Bobcats and Nolan Baumhover had 13.

Craig Engle led Marion with 13 points. Daly Quinn scored 11 points for the Indians (3-6, 2-5).

Western Dubuque led by only two points at halftime, 30-28, but the Bobcats drubbed the Indians 37-17 in the second half. Western Dubuque hit 22 of 25 free throws.
