Marion girls nudged by CCA

Amanda Sahm scored 15 points and Tessa Jordan added 14 Friday night as the Marion Indians dropped a 56-50 verdict to Clear Creek Amana in a Wamac Conference game at Marion.

Jordan made four 3-pointers for the Indians (1-2).

Lexi Kinnaird scored 14 points for the Clippers (2-1).

Marion bowlers roll by Tripoli

TRIPOLI - Marion built a 100-pin lead in the first round and held off Tripoli, 2639-2534, Friday in boys bowling.

Ian Kelly led Marion with a 373 series. Zach Prucha had high game with a 220.

Smith, Lamm fire Indians past Tripoli

Bre Smith and Taylor Lamm had the ball rolling Friday and fired Marion past Tripoli, 2362-2008, in girls bowling.

Smith and Lamm tied for high game at 214. Smith had a 407 series, Lamm a 393.

Mohr sparks Marion girls with 19

ANAMOSA - Michalyn Mohr popped in 19 points Tuesday night as Marion clipped Anamosa, 44-35, in a Wamac Conference girls basketball game in Anamosa.

Madison Smith scored 16 points for Anamosa (0-2).

Marion squared its record at 1-1.

Indians' rally falls short in opener, 62-56

Craig Engle and Daly Quinn combined for 25 points in the second half to pull Marion to within two points of Anamosa with 23 seconds left in Tuesday night's game.

But the Indians came up short and dropped their season opener to the Blue Raiders, 62-56, at the Marion gym.

The Indians were down 11 to begin the fourth quarter, but just couldn’t quite get the corner turned to pull out the victory.

Engle led all scorers with 23. Four of his six field goals were 3-pointers.
