Early offense powers Marion twice

WEST LIBERTY - Marion went off in the first inning twice Tuesday and routed West Liberty, 14-4 and 13-2, to sweep a non-conference baseball doubleheader.

The Indians (5-8) scored five runs in the first inning of the opener. The highlight was Trev Biery's three-run home run. Biery also added an RBI double in the second.

Logan Fuller had two hits and scored three runs. Nick Connolly earned the win on the mound.

Marion scored six runs in the first inning of the nightcap.

Lochner tosses no-hitter for Marion

VAN HORNE - Levi Lochner pitched a no-hitter with eight strikeouts Monday as the Marion Indians upset No.2 Benton Community, 2-0, in the first game of a Wamac Conference doubleheader in Van Horne.

Benton Community won the second game, 3-2.

Christian Stekl and Logan Fuller had RBIs in the first game for Marion (3-8, 3-5). Trevor Hardman went 2-for-2 for the Indians.

Marion drops softball twinbill at Benton

VAN HORNE - The Marion Indians lost a Wamac Conference softball doubleheader at Benton Community Monday, 2-1 and 5-0.

The two losses dropped Marion's records to 6-8 overall and 2-5 in the league.

Marion softball wins twice at tourney

LEGRAND - The Marion Indians squared their record at 6-6 Saturday with a pair of victories at the East Marshall softball tournament.

Marion defeated West Marshall, 5-1, and dumped BGM, 12-2.

Haley Vanourney pitched a complete game and allowed only five hits against West Marshall. Marissa Whitney and Beth Knapp drove in two runs. Whitney was 2-for-3 at the plate.

Marion drops twinbill in DeWitt

DEWITT - The Marion Indians dropped both ends of a Wamac Conference doubleheader at DeWitt Central Thursday night, 3-1 and 8-1.

Trev Biery had an RBI double in the nightcap for Marion (2-7, 2-4).

The Indians had only two hits in the opener.
