Marion High School - Marion, Iowa

Borens wins shot put at Prairie Relays

Marion High School senior Zach Borens grew up in Wisconsin and had his heart set on playing football for the Badgers some day, but he's gotten over it now.

Wisconsin offered the 6-foot-8, 330-pound offensive lineman a chance to join the team as a preferred walk-on, the same offer he got from Iowa and Iowa State, but then Indiana State came along and offered him a full ride to play for them.

For awhile, he was tempted by that invitation from Wisconsin.

"I did consider it, and then Indiana State came along," Borens said Tuesday. "It was still up in the air, but then I went to visit Indiana State and I loved it there, just as much as I loved Wisconsin."
