Frazier, Indians shine at Cascade Invy

CASCADE -- Isaac Frazier played a major role in four victories Thursday as the Marion Indians dominated the Cascade Early Bird Invitational track meet.

Frazier captured the 110 hurdles and high jump and ran anchor legs on the victorious 4x400 and shuttle hurdle relays.

Hunter Reifschneider (1600) and Deshawn Quinn (long jump) also won individual titles for Marion.

The Indians won nine of 16 events at the six-team meet. They also claimed the 4x100 relay, 4x200 relay and 4x800 relay.

Marion takes 2nd in Wamac relays

MOUNT VERNON - The Marion Indians finished second in two relay races at the Wamac Conference girls indoor track meet Tuesday at Cornell College.

The Indians placed second in the 4x200 relay behind Clear Creek Amana and finished second in the distance medley behind Solon.

Abby Kolarik placed fourth in the 400 (1:05.38) and took fifth in the 200 (27.68). Morgan Kolarik placed fifth in the 55 hurdles (9.10) and took seventh in the long jump (14-8 3/4).

Mahlia Brown finished seventh in the shot put for Marion (32-8).

 

LeBeau, Frazier star at Wamac track

MOUNT VERNON - Devin LeBeau and Isaac Frazier won two events for the Marion Indians at the Wamac Conference indoor track meet Monday at Cornell College.

LeBeau captured the 55-meter dash (6.49) and the 200-meter dash (23.40). Frazier won the high jump (6 feet) and the 55-meter hurdles (7.60).

Zach Borens gave Marion a fifth victory by taking the shot put (52-4 1/2).

Marion's Steffeck led Penn to title tilt

Keith Steffeck's goals were no different from those of many young basketball players.

Growing up in Marion, he dreamed of one day playing basketball at the University of Iowa and possibly playing for a national championship.

Steffeck accomplished half that goal.

The 6-foot-9, 220 pound Marion High School graduate led William Penn to the NAIA Division II national title game last week, scoring 12 points in a 73-59 loss to Cardinal Strich.

Frazier, LeBeau claim titles at Wartburg

WAVERLY - Isaac Frazier of Marion High School was a double-winner at the indoor track meet at Wartburg College Tuesday.

Frazier captured the 55 meter hurdles in 8.09 seconds and won the high jump at 1.96 meters (approximately 6 feet, 5 inches).

Devin LeBeau of Marion captured the 55 meter dash in 6.70 seconds.
