Quinn makes all-Wamac second team

Marion High School junior Daly Quinn was a second-team choice on the all-Wamac Conference boys basketball team in the West Division.

Isaac Frazier and Ty Gunderson from Marion received honorable mention.

Mohr makes all-Wamac basketball team

Marion High School sophomore Michalyn Mohr has been named to the Wamac All-Conference girls basketball team in the West Division.

Mohr was a unanimous selection to the first team. She helped Marion finish 10-4 in the West Division, 13-5 in all Wamac games and 13-8 overall this season.

Beth Knapp of Marion was named second team all-conference. Paige Perkins and Amanda Sahm received honorable mention.

Marion denied by No.3 Assumption, 51-47

CLINTON - The clock operator at Clinton High School accidentally shortened Monday night's Class 3A substate final between Marion and Davenport Assumption by 17 seconds when the scoreboard malfunctioned in the first half.

The Marion Indians would have loved to have gotten them back, because every second counted with a trip to the state tournament hanging in the balance.

The Indians pushed the third-ranked Knights to the limit before falling, 51-47, in a well-played game on a neutral court.

Balanced Marion boys sideline Anamosa

MOUNT VERNON - More often than not a team effort wins out against one great player.

That was the case Friday night as the Marion Indians used a balanced attacked to edge the Anamosa Raiders 55-50 in a Class 3A district final boys basketball game Friday night at Mount Vernon.

Marion (12-11) will face Davenport Assumption (17-6) at Clinton on Monday night in the substate final with a trip to state on the line.

Marion's playoff game postponed to Friday

There will be a new day and a new location for Marion's basketball game against Anamosa in the Class 3A district playoffs.

The contest was scheduled for Thursday night at Kennedy High School, but it has been postponed due to the winter storm warning and rescheduled for Friday night at Mount Vernon High School at 7 p.m.

The Kennedy gym is not available Friday night.
