Marion girls dumped by Wahlert

DUBUQUE - Ana Schmitt scored 17 points Saturday as Dubuque Wahlert defeated Marion, 54-38, in the Wendy's Classic at Loras College.

Michalyn Mohr led Marion (6-5) with 18 points. She made five field goals and was 8 for 11 at the foul line.

Logan Lynch scored 13 points for Wahlert and Marissa Cody had 11.

Mount Vernon nudges Marion boys

MOUNT VERNON - Daly Quinn and Isaac Frazier combined for 25 points in Marion's 46-43 boys basketball loss to Mount Vernon Saturday night.

Quinn scored 14 points and made three 3-pointers. Frazier added 11 points.

Mount Vernon made one fewer field goal than Marion, but potted nine 3-pointers to four for the Indians. Both teams made three free throws.

Frazier's 16 points pace Marion boys

MANCHESTER - Isaac Frazier scored 16 points and Marion overcame some woeful free-throw shooting to beat West Delaware, 51-47, Friday night in Wamac boys basketball.

Brendan Landuyt added 11 points for Marion (5-3, 4-3).

Both teams made 20 field goals. Marion made 7 of 21 free throws to pull out the win. West Delaware was 2 of 8 from the line.

Peterson gets 2 pins for Indians

WATERLOO -- Dakota Peterson collected two pins for the Marion Indians on Thursday night in their Wamac Conference double-dual wrestling meet in Waterloo.

Peterson pinned Dana Boesen of Waterloo Columbus in 3:09 and flattened Zach Jacobi of Benton Community in 1:53 at 170 pounds.

Kyle Grandon also had a pin for the Indians. He stuck Christian Feye of Benton Community in 35 seconds at 195 pounds.

Marion lost to Waterloo Columbus, 54-21, and fell to Benton Community, 64-18.

Marion girls fall to Williamsburg in OT

WILLIAMSBURG -- The Marion High School girls basketball team was trimmed by Williamsburg, 66-62, in overtime Tuesday night in a Wamac Conference game in Williamsburg.

Beth Knapp led four Marion players into double figures with 18 points. Amanda Sahm scored 16 points, Michalyn Mohr had 12 and Paige Perkins added 11. Knapp made four 3-pointers.

Paige Greiner paced Williamsburg with 23 points.

MARION (62): Banes 1 0-0 3, Combs 1 0-0 2, Sahm 5 4-6 16, Perkins 4 3-6 11, Knapp 6 0-0 18, Jordan 0 0-0 0, Mohr 6 0-0 12. Totals 23 7-12 60.

WILLIAMSBURG (66): Lane 6 2-2 16, Greiner 9 2-4 23, Schlabaugh 5 3-6 13, Simmons 2 0-1 4, Slaymaker 1 0-0 2, L.Huedepohl 1 0-0 2, Ritchie 1 0-0 2, Bigbee 2 1-2 5. Totals 27 8-15 66.
